EasyJet pilots in Spain have voted to strike for nine days in August to demand better working conditions.

The Sepla union is demanding that the budget airline re-establish pilots’ working conditions from before the pandemic and provide its pilots with a new multi-year contract deal.

The action in three periods of 72 hours each is due to take place  on August 12, 13 and 14; 19, 20 and 21; and 27, 28 and 29 due to the refusal of the company to recover the working conditions that pilots had before the pandemic, as well as to negotiate the second collective agreement.

EasyJet said it was aware of an upcoming pilot strike at its bases in Barcelona, Malaga and Palma.

The budget airlines told a news agency that they are disappointed with this action at the critical time for the industry. They also added that negotiations with Sepla were ongoing.

Spain-based cabin crew at easyJet suspended a planned weekend strike last Thursday after reaching a deal with the airline that includes higher salaries, the USO union said.
