Emirates Brings Back Daily Direct Flight Service Between Adelaide and Dubai with 4,200 Weekly Seats

Emirates has resumed its daily flights between Adelaide and Dubai, deploying a Boeing 777-200LR to connect these two cities. This renewed service provides travelers with over 4,200 seats weekly between Dubai and South Australia’s capital.

The Boeing 777-200LR is configured with a total of 302 seats, featuring 38 Business Class seats arranged in a 2-2-2 layout and 264 seats in Economy Class. With this reinstated service, Emirates aims to accommodate more than 220,400 passengers annually on the Dubai-Adelaide route, reinforcing its commitment to South Australia and meeting the rising demand for travel to and from the area.

The return of Emirates flights is anticipated to significantly boost South Australia’s economy and tourism sector. The South Australian Tourism Commission estimates that the daily nonstop flights could inject over $62 million annually in tourism spending, creating more than 315 full-time tourism-related jobs for local residents.

Additionally, Emirates SkyCargo will play a key role in enhancing South Australia’s trade connectivity with major markets across the Middle East, Europe, and the United States. Each flight will provide 14 tonnes of cargo capacity, equating to a weekly total of 196 tonnes between Dubai and Adelaide. Expected exports include seafood, meat, fruits, and vegetables, as well as pharmaceuticals, machinery parts, retail garments, and electronics. Freight exports from this route are estimated to be worth $98 million annually, bringing the total economic impact of Emirates’ Adelaide service to approximately $160 million per year.

South Australia Premier, Peter Malinauskas, said, “The return of Emirates’ daily service to Adelaide is significant for South Australia. This reconnection to Dubai and beyond will benefit our economy, creating jobs and opening up new opportunities for trade and tourism. With an estimated $160 million annual economic impact, including $62 million in tourism expenditure, this service will play a crucial role in our state’s growth. This is a clear vote of confidence in South Australia’s future, and we’re ready to make the most of it.”

South Australian Minister for Tourism, Zoe Bettison, said, “Last night we welcomed the first of the more than 220,000 Emirates passengers that are set to touch down in South Australia each year thanks to the daily return of this major international airline. Now South Australia is even more appealing to some of our key international markets, as Emirates eases the connection between our great state and over 140 destinations worldwide. 

Emirates’ return will be a major player in our efforts to grow the state’s international market, which is currently worth $1.3 billion to South Australia’s visitor economy. Emirates’ flight EK440 departs from Dubai at 02:00 and touches down in Adelaide at 20:50. For the return journey, flight EK441 leaves Adelaide at 22:40, landing in Dubai at 05:20 the next day, with all times given in local time zones.

With the addition of this route, Emirates now provides 70 weekly flights from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide, connecting travelers to over 140 global destinations. Starting December 1, Emirates will resume its second daily service to Perth, increasing its total weekly flights from Australia to 77. This expansion allows the airline to accommodate up to 68,000 passengers weekly on its Australia routes, fully restoring its pre-pandemic service capacity.
