Emirates deploys 2000 Apple products to crew for inflight services

Emirates has embarked on a transformative strategy called ‘One Device.’

This strategy involves the deployment of Apple products to its 20,000 cabin crew members, which includes iPhone 13 and iPad Air devices equipped with custom Emirates applications.

The primary goal is to enhance and streamline passenger services during flights while also improving the overall work experience for the cabin crew.

Emirates has invested over AED 32 million into this initiative, with the distribution of Apple devices commencing a year ago. Currently, more than 7,000 cabin crew members are using iPhones on 450 daily flights worldwide. In the upcoming months, an additional 5,000 cabin crew will receive iPhones and iPads, featuring new apps and features that will further improve their performance.

Custom-built applications have been developed in collaboration with cabin crew to enhance their user experience and provide passengers with top-tier service. This includes apps for meal order-taking in Business Class, ensuring quick and precise service, and offering cabin crew insights into passengers’ profiles and Skywards status. Another app provides real-time roster and flight information, as well as details about the onboard cabin crew. This 360-degree view of passengers allows cabin crew to access critical real-time information, enabling a highly personalized customer experience, including knowledge of dining and drinks preferences and onboard loungewear sizes based on past flights.

The ‘One Device’ initiative not only enhances passenger service but also improves cabin crew performance and safety standards. Cabin crew can access 24/7 global support, including a dedicated team of experts at the Emirates Dubai hub, as well as Apple Support. Safety is further bolstered with continuous education through micro-learning and access to operational manuals. Cabin crew are also allowed to use their iPhones for personal use, with their private data protected.

Apple products were chosen due to their fast charging, extended battery life, lightweight design, and premium build quality. Additionally, Apple’s robust security measures ensure the protection of customer and cabin crew information, making privacy a priority.

To support the rollout of ‘One Device,’ Emirates has established an in-person experience zone at its headquarters in Dubai, providing cabin crew with easy access to hardware and software support, Emirates application assistance, and device accessories.

Emirates’ adoption of Apple products represents a significant step toward improving the passenger experience and enhancing the capabilities of its cabin crew.
