The new non-stop service is set to meet growing demand from holidaymakers and business travelers, who are looking to travel to the popular Indian Ocean destination.

A Bold Move to Strengthen Connectivity

Emirates’ new route will be operated by a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, and it will represent a capacity increase of more than 30% on the route. The aircraft is laid out in a three-class arrangement adding greater comfort to passengers. The new service will complement the existing double daily A380 flights and offer more connections through the Emirati carrier’s Dubai hub.

Emirates’ broader network of passengers from all corners of its network will increasingly benefit from the additional once-daily flight to beautiful Mauritius. The extra flight will serve important markets such as Europe, the Middle East and the Americas, as well as Asia, specifically Japan, China, Malaysia and Hong Kong. This initiative is a part of Emirates’ commitment to showcase Mauritius as a world-class vacation and business destination.

A Deeper Look at the Flight Schedule

The new flight, EK709/710, will provide convenient timing for passengers:

These flights can be booked by passengers directly with Emirates. com, the Emirates app, Emirates sales offices, contact centers or travel agents.

The Effects of Emirates Operations on Mauritius

Tourism in Mauritius has been an important industry as from 2002, Emirates has been instrumental in boosting arrivals. The airline has carried more than 8.8 million passengers as well as in excess of 126,000 tonnes of cargo to and from Mauritius and Dubai since – its home base. This has undoubtedly had economic benefits, with estimated US$119 million in direct air travel receipts and US$264 million in tourism receipts.

Emirates’ direct operations have also helped sustain 3,600 local jobs, reaffirming the airline’s commitment to the island’s tourism industry. Emirates’ business model and its successful collaboration with Air Mauritius and the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) have had a positive impact on the Mauritian economy and have indeed contributed to the elevation of Mauritius as a preferred tourist destination on a global standpoint.

Beyond Air Travel: Partnering in Tourism

Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, said: “We are proud to have supported the growth of Mauritius’ tourism industry and to have served as a trade bridge between the island and the rest of the world. The minister added that the introduction of the Boeing 777 service will not only uplift capacity of seats but will also increase connectivity, further positioning the destination on the world tourism map.

We have increased our footprint in the region and partnering with Air Mauritius is an important part of that expansion. Through the cooperation, Air Mauritius and Virgin Australia hope to provide a convenient travel experience, bringing Mauritius closer to travelers across the globe.

Kazim also commented on the increasing popularity of luxury travel in the region thanks to Emirates’ luxurious new products onboard the A380 and the Boeing 777. The service would provide both business and economy travelers the opportunity to experience Mauritius attractions including the island nation’s beaches, resorts and culture, it said.

Mauritius: The New Darling of Indian Ocean Tourism

One of the Indian Ocean’s most popular destinations, the island of Mauritius is still ideal for all types of travelers ranging from those looking for relaxation to those in search for adventure. The island offers an incredible cultural legacy, dramatic scenery and abundant marine life, and makes an unforgettable vacation. With everything from luxury resorts to water sports, golf and spa experiences, Mauritius suits all types of travelers.

Indeed, the island’s increasing popularity as a place to relax and do business is partly due to the convenience of access thanks to Emirates’ regular flights. New services will also support the growing number of travelers from international markets enjoying Mauritius as a key destination for business or a holiday.

Emirates is highly conscious of the esteemed value of luxury travel hospitality in the Mauritius tourist industry. Under the new campaign, the airline showcased its premium cabins, which feature suites in first class, a business class lounge and roomy economy seats. These are targeting the increasingly affluent Mauritians and resident high net worth individuals, or those seeking luxury experiences locally.

The island’s exclusive resorts, from beachfront spots to private villas, are a magnet for travelers looking for luxury and seclusion. More visitors will be able to enjoy this luxury on board the third daily Emirates flight, contributing to the growth in demand and Mauritius’ standing as a preferred destination.

Environmental and Economic Considerations

However, with the added flights, although a good thing in terms of Mauritius tourism, environmental concerns about growth in air travel are also there. Emirates is trying to address this by investing in fuel efficient aircraft, asked specifically whether the Boeing 777-300ER as well offer the best of both worlds and satisfy its “economic imperative”, Polivka says it will. The airline’s emphasis on sustainability dovetails with the global trajectory in the aviation sector.

Additionally, tourists from the third daily flight will help stimulate a new source of income for the island creating a multiplier effect, through job creation, local business expansion and infrastructure growth.

What’s next: The future of tourism in Mauritius

As the tourism industry is developing, it is still the commitment of Emirates to support the growth of Mauritius as an international destination with our connections to dozens of dynamic cities through our Dubai hub. The airline’s global network of more than 170 destinations will help to connect the island to the wider world as it emerges as an international travel destination. This has to be good news for Air Mauritius and the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority, who will all now be known to even more people, and no doubt the island will be as popular as ever with travelers across the globe.
