English Tourism Week, which runs until March 26, has been hailed by South Shropshire MP Philip Dunne. This annual celebration of the tourism industry emphasises the industry’s economic relevance to local communities and economies.

Philip Dunne MP said, “Tourism is an essential part of our South Shropshire economy. As spring begins, this is a good time to raise awareness of what our county has to offer through English Tourism Week.

The theme for this year is ‘Celebrating amazing experiences and amazing people,’ which recognises the essential contribution of individuals working in the tourism sector to ensuring tourists enjoy remarkable experiences while also contributing to the vibrancy of local communities.

“It is a chance to celebrate our amazing experiences and amazing people and to showcase South Shropshire,” the MP said.

English Tourism Week is an opportunity to highlight the tremendous variety of activities available in Shropshire, ranging from historical sites to breathtaking natural settings. Shropshire is a landlocked historic county in the West Midlands region of England.

Dunne further added, “Tourism and travel make a vital contribution to the UK economy contributing £192 billion directly and indirectly to the UK economy in 2022, supporting 4.1 million jobs across the country.”

Individuals and companies from around the county can participate in promoting events and activities such as online events, social media campaigns, and special promotions during English Tourism Week.
