Etihad Airways is celebrating the onset of Ramadan, both in the air and at their facilities, aiming to envelop travelers in the essence of this sacred month and elevate their journey throughout this period.

Beginning 10 March, travelers in all cabin categories flying to specific destinations with Etihad will enjoy an array of amenities designed to honor the spirit of Ramadan. This includes specially prepared Iftar meals and exclusive prayer areas in Etihad’s luxury lounges and on their flights.

Turky Al Hammadi, Head of Product and Hospitality, at Etihad Airways, said: “Ramadan holds a special place in our hearts, it’s a time to reflect and to spread kindness. We are committed to sharing these Ramadan values across all touchpoints of our guests’ journey, starting from our lounges to onboard experiences.

“For our Iftar menu this year, our culinary team has carefully crafted special Ramadan dishes that aim to evoke heartwarming traditions, blending traditional Emirati flavours with a modern twist. Our commitment to premium and sustainable ingredients is reflected in our choice of locally sourced suppliers, ensuring our guests enjoy high-quality, tasty dishes that also support the local economy and have a lesser impact on the environment.

“Our Iftar menu contains dishes like the lamb bukhari with smoked cardamom yoghurt, pulled chicken machbous pinza with chaami cheese and pickled onion, and warm umm ali dessert and olive oil and date cake. Our menus are designed to ensure that our guests savour the richness of traditional Ramadan meals while also maintaining nutritional balance.”

“Furthermore, we offer Etihad Guest members the opportunity to donate their miles, allowing them to spread kindness and support communities around the world. We have seen the generosity of our guests with over 250 million miles donated to a range of causes through the Etihad Guest programme to date. It’s initiatives like these that truly embody the spirit of generosity and compassion that Ramadan represents.”

Ramadan Delights at Etihad Lounges

Guests at Etihad’s lounges in Abu Dhabi, New York, Washington DC, and London Heathrow can enjoy a selection of traditional Ramadan refreshments. Options include laban, Vimto, karkade, date milk, a hydrating cucumber drink, and rose milk.

For those observing fasts, Etihad lounges offer an Iftar menu before departure. The menu includes harira soup, lobster machbous ravioli, and chicken biryani, showcasing the rich flavors of Arabic cuisine. Desserts like Vimto cheesecake, rose and pistachio mahalabia, and rangeena add a modern twist to Ramadan traditions.

Ramadan In-Flight Experience

In premium cabins, passengers are treated to lentil soup with chaami cheese, lamb and date meatballs with saffron rice, and umm ali. A healthy Iftar salad is available for a lighter option.

Economy class passengers will enjoy Arabic mezze, braised lamb with vermicelli rice, topped with fried onion and almonds, and Vimto mousse with khabeesa for dessert.

For those breaking their fast around landing, Etihad offers Iftar bags with Laban, water, and dates, adorned with traditional Emirati artwork. Dedicated prayer areas and electronic Qibla pointers are available for guests to practice their faith.

Entertainment and Giving During Ramadan

Etihad’s E-BOX system features Ramadan programming and religious content, including the Holy Quran. Highlights include “Rehlat Haya,” promoting happiness and stability, “Chef Bil Bait,” a cooking show with Al-Halabi and guest artists, and the “El Dunia Ramadan” series, exploring Ramadan’s cultural diversity.

Supporting Charity with Etihad Guest

In the spirit of Ramadan, Etihad Airways encourages members to donate miles to charity through “The Reach Campaign,” aiding families affected by river blindness and lymphatic filariasis.
