Eurostar confirms no direct ski train from London this winter

Eurostar has confirmed it will not continue its direct service from London to the Alps next winter.

The train, operated in partnership with Paris-based Travelski since 2021/22, ran from London St Pancras direct to Moutier and Bourg St Maurice, gateways to major Alpine resorts.

Last winter it operated from mid-December until early April.

Eurostar said it would instead offer an option to change at Lille for a Eurostar continental train to Bourg Saint Maurice. This will call at Chambery, Albertville, Moutiers, Aime-La Plagne and Landry.

Eurostar stated that this service will run for a short season starting mid-December, leaving London Saturday daytime and returning Sunday daytime. It said it would provide more detailed information soon.

A ski operator confirmed it was working on a replacement train-inclusive package via Lille.

The ski operator chief executive Guillaume de Marcillac proclaimed that they continue to work with their friends at Eurostar and they are pleased that they will be once again offering a train inclusive packages from London to the French Alps.

The withdrawal of the direct service is the latest cost-cutting measure from Eurostar, which was hit hard by the pandemic and Brexit.

Its popular Disneyland Paris train was axed on 5 June, although Eurostar has said it will look to relaunch services next year.

In addition, Eurostar stations at Ashford and Ebbsfleet in Kent are closed due to tougher immigration procedures following Brexit.
