EVA Air confirms purchase of 18 A350-1000s & 15 A321neos from Airbus, enhancing long-haul & regional fleets with modern, efficient aircraft.

Taiwan’s premier airline, EVA Air, has solidified an agreement with Airbus, confirming the acquisition of 18 of the extended-range A350-1000 aircraft and 15 of the compact A321neo jets. This move positions EVA Air as one of the leading international airlines to integrate the A350-1000 into its long-haul flight operations. The addition of the A321neo jets is set to revolutionize the airline’s short-haul routes with unprecedented efficiency.

EVA Air’s President, Clay Sun, stated, “After a comprehensive analysis of various aircraft models in each category, we chose Airbus for their state-of-the-art, fuel-efficient designs which align with our aim for high passenger comfort and commitment to environmental sustainability. The A350-1000, in particular, redefines the benchmark for long-distance travel, ensuring a superior travel experience for our passengers.”

Airbus’ EVP of Sales for Commercial Aircraft, Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, expressed, “We’re entering a new chapter with EVA Air and are grateful for their trust in Airbus. The A350-1000 continues to gain recognition as the ideal successor to older widebody aircraft, setting new industry standards in range, payload, and fuel efficiency while also contributing to reduced carbon emissions. We’re equally thrilled about EVA’s decision to invest in the A321neo, marking their first direct purchase of this aircraft, and we look forward to supporting EVA Air as they introduce these Airbus fleets.”

The A350, a front-runner in long-range aviation, offers two variants: the A350-900, typically accommodating around 350 passengers, and the larger A350-1000, with a capacity of up to 410 passengers in standard configurations.

Equipped with the latest Rolls-Royce engines, these jets can cover up to 9,700 nautical miles or 18,000 kilometers non-stop. They boast a 25% reduction in fuel consumption and carbon emissions compared to previous models. For passengers, the A350 promises an unparalleled travel experience with the quietest cabin to date, innovative lighting systems, modern in-flight connectivity, and reduced cabin pressure for enhanced comfort.

Globally, the A350 Family has secured over 1,000 firm orders from 60 customers, with more than 570 of these aircraft already operational across 39 carriers, primarily on long-haul routes.

The A321neo, a member of the A320neo Family, integrates the latest in aviation technology, including new-generation engines and Sharklets, along with cabin efficiency improvements. These advancements collectively result in a 20% reduction in fuel usage. Since its debut in 2016, the A321neo has garnered over 5,600 orders from more than 100 customers, claiming approximately 65% of its market segment.
