Exclusive APU maintenance contract for China Southern’s A350 by Lufthansa

China Southern Airlines has entered into an exclusive eight-year agreement with Lufthansa Technik for specialized technical support for the auxiliary power units (APUs) of its Airbus A350 fleet, which currently numbers 20 aircraft. Under this comprehensive agreement, Lufthansa Technik will deliver maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for the Honeywell HGT1700 APUs at its specialized facilities in Hamburg, Germany.

Lufthansa Technik, selected by Honeywell for its expertise, serves as the official warranty station and is authorized to conduct MRO services on the HGT1700 APU, designed specifically for the Airbus A350. The partnership encompasses a broad range of MRO services, including the provision of spare APUs and engineering support throughout the contract’s lifespan. Additionally, the agreement is structured to accommodate any future expansions of China Southern Airlines’ A350 fleet.

The collaboration builds on a solid foundation of over a decade of working together across various products and services, reinforcing the airline’s confidence in Lufthansa Technik’s capabilities.

Dennis Kohr, Senior Vice President Corporate Sales Asia Pacific at Lufthansa Technik, expressed pride in the strengthened partnership through this new contract. He emphasized the complexity of APUs and Lufthansa Technik’s proven track record in delivering high-quality services in engine and component maintenance, which has assured China Southern Airlines of their reliability as a service provider. This agreement marks a significant continuation of the collaboration between the two companies.
