Exhibition World Bahrain (EWB), the most recent and largest exhibition and convention center in the Middle East, is delighted to announce its achievement of the “World’s Leading New Exhibition and Convention Centre 2023” at the World Travel Awards 2023.

During the Grand Final Gala Ceremony of the World Travel Awards 2023 at Burj Al Arab in Dubai, UAE, on December 1, 2023, Dr. Nasser Qaedi, the CEO of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), received the award in the presence of esteemed guests, including HE Philip Joseph Pierre, the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, tourism ministers, and prominent figures from the travel industry.

Exhibition World Bahrain emerged victorious with the highest number of votes, securing the internationally acclaimed award over competitors Bharat Mandapam, India, and Tākina Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre, New Zealand. This prestigious win solidifies the Kingdom of Bahrain’s position as a global hub for the MICE industry, showcasing the versatility of Exhibition World Bahrain with its modern amenities and innovative services catering to various event types.

The timing of winning the “World’s Leading New Exhibition and Convention Centre 2023” aligns with EWB’s first anniversary, marking a year of remarkable milestones. The venue has become a sought-after destination for prestigious events, hosting a diverse range, including large-scale exhibitions, conventions, conferences, weddings, concerts, product launches, seminars, and more.

Situated strategically in Bahrain’s vibrant Sakhir area, EWB is part of the Kingdom’s emerging hub for events, sports, and entertainment, adjacent to Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), Al Dana Amphitheatre, and the upcoming Bahrain International Sports City. With easy access to the new Bahrain International Airport, over 18,000 hotel rooms, and a variety of attractions and dining experiences, EWB contributes significantly to Bahrain’s growing appeal as a destination.

Dr. Nasser Qaedi, CEO of BTEA, commented on the achievement, stating, “Receiving this prestigious award at the WTA ceremony is a privilege. It reaffirms EWB’s exceptional performance in the MICE industry, aligning with Bahrain’s tourism strategy 2022-2026 objectives.”

Dr. Debbie Kristiansen, the General Manager of Exhibition World Bahrain, expressed immense pride in achieving this success within a year of operation, emphasizing EWB’s continuous commitment to excellence and the venue’s role in attracting globally significant events to Bahrain.

Looking ahead, EWB is set to host the 9th World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism in 2024 and the 29th edition of Routes World, further solidifying its position as a world-class venue for the MICE industry. Since its opening in November 2022, EWB has garnered numerous awards and recognitions, contributing to Bahrain’s resurgence in the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) Global Rankings.

As a proud member of 12 international organizations specializing in the MICE and business tourism sectors, EWB remains committed to elevating the experiences of its partners and visitors and contributing to the growth of Bahrain’s business tourism sector.
