“The tourism data for Milan in 2023 reached an all-time high, and it’s a success we must share among many stakeholders, both public and private, including the dense network of accommodation facilities in the city. We need virtuous examples like Hotel Milano Scala.”
During the conference, Hotel Milano Scala showcased its sustainability efforts over the years, including the use of a Mitsubishi Electric air conditioning system that recovers condensed water heat. Additionally, the hotel boasts a rooftop terrace with a garden supplying the kitchen with fresh ingredients, aligning with the farm-to-table philosophy. The hotel maintains clean air with abundant plants and a filtration system, recycles organic waste through two composting systems, and actively participates in Borsino Rifiuti’s Smart Circular City project, offering eco-friendly amenities to guests.
These initiatives have earned Hotel Milano Scala recognition as one of the 36 most sustainable hotels globally in the UK National Geographic Traveller’s Earth Collection guide. It has also received top sustainability ratings on platforms such as 3+ booking.com, expedia.com, and TripAdvisor.com. Furthermore, the hotel has been awarded the DCA ESG Certification, affirming its sustainability and reliability as an accommodation facility.
Dream&Charme, an independent Italian certification body aligned with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council and accredited by Accredia, establishes global sustainable tourism criteria in accordance with European standards.
“The DCA ESG Certification – stated the CEO of Dream&Charme – is a fundamental element for tourism. The decision of Hotel Milano Scala to obtain the DCA ESG Certification, under international accreditation, highlights a forward-thinking assessment.”
As a result of these strategies, the hotel remains one step ahead in the context of conscious and sustainable tourism. “Sustainability is not a goal but a journey that never ends…,” said Vittorio Modena, administrator of Hotel Milano Scala, defining his commitment in this sector.
