Fantastic Indonesia, the official tourist marketing of the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, is injecting the glamour of Indonesia’s culture, nature, and hospitality into the city streets of Rome this July. From the months of July 1-31, 2025, the capital city of Italy will receive a dose of the diversity and richness of Indonesia’s most iconic and rising stars of tourist attractions through an intriguing Open Bus Tour and a wide-reaching Out-of-Home (OOH) media advertising program. The event seeks to further the acquaintance of Italian visitors with Indonesia, presenting the nation’s unique tourist attractions, and increasing its visibility in Europe.
This dynamic promotional effort highlights Indonesia’s Priority Tourism Destinations and Regenerative Destinations, with a focus on some of the most breathtaking and culturally rich regions of the archipelago, including Lake Toba (North Sumatra), Borobudur (Central Java), Mandalika (West Nusa Tenggara), Labuan Bajo (East Nusa Tenggara), and the iconic island of Bali.
As part of the month-long campaign, Wonderful Indonesia has launched an Open Bus Tour that will take visitors and locals on a scenic journey across Rome’s iconic landmarks, including Stazione Termini, Santa Maria Maggiore, Colosseo, Circo Massimo, Piazza Venezia, Castel Sant’Angelo, Via Vittorio Veneto, and Piazza Barberini. The open-top bus, adorned with vibrant visuals of Indonesia’s top travel destinations, will provide a mobile showcase of the country’s cultural and natural beauty, making it easier for Romans and tourists alike to explore Indonesia’s diverse tourism offerings.

In addition to the bus tour, OOH advertising is strategically placed across Rome in high-traffic areas like Piazza Risorgimento and Piazzale Flaminio. The OOH campaign features stunning images of Indonesia’s top destinations, inviting passersby to discover more about these extraordinary locations and encouraging them to book their next vacation to the Southeast Asian paradise. This visually impactful campaign aims to ignite curiosity and entice potential travelers to explore Indonesia’s rich culture, pristine beaches, vibrant landscapes, and historic landmarks.
The Wonderful Indonesia campaign focuses on several key destinations that embody the country’s diverse appeal:

As part of its goal to boost tourism from Europe, Indonesia is targeting over 2.7 million tourist arrivals from the European market in 2025, accounting for 17.3% of its international tourism target. The growing interest in Indonesia’s destinations is reflected in the increase of European arrivals, with a notable rise in Italian travelers seeking new and unique travel experiences.
According to Statistics Indonesia (BPS), European tourist arrivals in May 2025 reached 192,235, marking a 1.06% increase year-to-date. Of these, Italy has become one of the key markets, contributing to the rise in interest. This growing momentum underscores Italy’s increasing importance as a source of travelers looking to explore Indonesia’s unique cultural heritage and natural landscapes.

The OOH campaign and Open Bus Tour highlight the diverse experiences that travelers can enjoy, from cultural explorations and adventure activities to beach getaways and historical discoveries.
By bringing Indonesia’s natural and cultural wonders to the streets of Rome, Wonderful Indonesia hopes to ignite curiosity and inspire travelers to embark on a journey to the island nation. With its commitment to sustainability, cultural preservation, and creating authentic travel experiences, Indonesia is poised to become an even more sought-after destination in the global tourism market.
In spite of its 2025 Rome mission, Wonderful Indonesia aims to foster a better connection between Indonesia and Italy, which might pave the way for increased travel between the two countries. By featuring the magnificent sceneries of Indonesia and inviting people to learn about its nature, culture, and hospitality, the program serves as a bridge constructing a cultural linkage and enabling a stream of tourist flow between Italy and Indonesia.
As the globe gets back to normal after the pandemic and explorers are looking for fresh and meaningful experiences, Indonesia is poised to deliver a rich array of choices that speak directly to the new age explorer, from luxury accommodations to cultural exploration, all set against the breathtaking backdrops of Indonesia.
