The festival’s main attraction is the traditional “fisherman’s joust” on the Main River, in which participants compete to knock each other out of their boats using long wooden sticks. The celebration begins with a wine-tapping ceremony at Römerberg’s Fountain of Justice and ends with a spectacular firework show best watched from the riverbank.
