Ambassador Cruise Line offered a FAM trip to 21 travel agents on the MV Ambience cruise ship. The purpose of the cruise was to experience what Ambassador Cruise Line has to offer and to travel to and explore two cities, Hamburg and Amsterdam, which are located in the heart of Europe. While crossing the North Sea to Hamburg, agents went through a program specifically made to showcase the cruise line. The ship has multiple places to dine, including the Buckingham Restaurant, Saffron, Sea & Grass, and other specialty dining venues. As agents experienced the Ambience, cruise line staff completed various activities in order to take full advantage of the cruise.

This included a formal night dinner and a special “Meet the Officers” session where the agents got to mingle with the senior officers on the ship. There were also bridge and galley tours that showcased the inner workings that go into making a cruise ship operate. To further extend the social scope, there were also other fun activities on the ship, such as cocktail making, towel folding, yoga, and choir.

Visiting Hamburg and Amsterdam

Along the cruise, agents had the opportunity to discover 2 of Europe’s most festive and culture-rich cities: Hamburg and Amsterdam.

In Hamburg, the agents partook in a “Snapshot of Hamburg at Christmas” experience, focusing on the Christmas markets and other highlights of the holiday season in the city. This experience allowed the participants to become fully engaged in the holiday spirit by stopping at various points of interest and appreciating the city’s festive decorations and holiday spirit.

The experience in Amsterdam, though completely different, was also very memorable. The agents were given a scenic and architectural overview of the city on a canal cruise, then they continued to the world-renowned museum, Rijksmuseum, which offers a comprehensive look at the history of Dutch art. The entire group stopped at the Royal Coster Diamonds, one of the oldest diamond houses in Amsterdam, and then we had a meal at the well-known Dutch Pancake Masters, a lovely establishment for traditional Dutch pancakes.

Feedback on FAM Trips

According to Emma Rodgers, Divisional Sales Manager North at Ambassador, the FAM trip provided agents the opportunity to understand what the cruise line encompasses. These trips are important for travel agents to understand the specifics of what the cruise and the destinations aboard are all about, and what the customization we are able to offer. She pointed to the perfect balance of the festive destinations, luxury activities, and entertainment onboard the cruise as an opportunity for the agents to appreciate both sides of the trip equally.

The travel industry can understand the importance of FAM trips. By allowing travel agents to experience the cruise, Ambassador Cruise Line was able to make sure agents would be able to sell the product to their clients with confidence. Nothing is more effective at building an enduring trust for a travel agent than the opportunity to gain a first-hand experience with the ship as well as the destinations.

During the European travel industry pandemic, travel companies strengthened partnerships through educational trips, including travel to Ambassador Cruises’ European routes and an exploration of the festive and cruising features of the towns of Hamburg and Amsterdam. Collaborating companies were able to appreciate the culture and history offered in cruising, as well as the background of the products they were selling to the customers. All the cruisers offered festive, holiday delight culture, and memories that travel agents will carry and share with clients for years to come. Ambassador Cruises is well able to update clients with great confidence and accuracy due to these industry partnerships.

Creating and implementing these partnerships with educational cruising holiday trips will provide travel agents struggling with clientele confidence to offer their clients a stellar holiday cruise package. This will offer a long-lasting travel memory. Ambassador Cruises will continue to build on these partnerships that offer educational experiences to the travel agents who will share their experiences in detail with travelers. This will enhance and offer a seamless Euro holiday for travelers who will ultimately share their experiences.
