Explore Guam’s History: Join the Community Cleanup at Iconic Tourism Sites in Hagåtña

As part of celebrating Guam’s rich cultural history and enhancing the island’s tourism potential, the Korean Guam Travel Association (KGTA) will be hosting its first community cleanup event on Sunday, November 30, 2023. Participants will be picking up litter in and around the Guam Museum, Plaza de España, and Latte Stone Park in Hagåtña. They will be the first holders of the new Executive Committee of the KGTA and hope to start a tradition of community cleanup events.

Touching on the tourism aspect, the city of Hagåtña welcomes and attracts thousands of visitors every year. The Guam Museum, Plaza de España, and Latte Stone Park are some of the sites of major historical and cultural significance in the city, enabling tourists to learn and experience the unique indigenous and colonial history of the island. Rivalling other attractions on the island, these are major focal points of the visitors experiencing the island’s culture.

Plaza de España is one of the central attractions in Hagåtña and represents the colonial period of the Island. Latte Stone Park is a site with testimonial structures over a millennium old. Park maintenance allows the public to appreciate and remember this part of Guam’s history.
