The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has taken decisive action by issuing an emergency order to revoke the certificate of Santa Monica Propeller Service, Inc., located in Santa Monica, California.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has taken decisive action by issuing an emergency order to revoke the certificate of Santa Monica Propeller Service, Inc., located in Santa Monica, California.

According to the FAA’s allegations:

During the period between May and November 2021, the company endorsed the return to service of four Hartzell propellers following overhauls without adhering to specific manufacturer-manual guidelines for part replacement. Furthermore, the company knowingly provided false certifications regarding the replacement of these parts.

Between January and November 2021, an individual lacking the necessary qualifications approved approximately 42 propellers for return to service. Despite notifications from the FAA to the company’s owner in December 2021 and February 2022 regarding this issue, unqualified personnel continued to authorize the return to service of propellers between September 2022 and January 2023.

As a result of these serious infractions, Santa Monica Propeller Service has voluntarily surrendered its certificate to the FAA.
