The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), part of the U.S. Department of Transportation, has granted Houston Airports $5.49 million through the Airport Terminal Program, funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. This allocation aims to enhance airport facilities, particularly restroom facilities in Terminals A and D. Approximately 10 restrooms will undergo expansion, reconstruction, and modernization, significantly improving the passenger experience post-security.
Terminal A, one of Bush Airport’s original terminals dating back to 1969, will receive substantial upgrades, incorporating sustainable and modern design elements to ensure passenger comfort and satisfaction. Additionally, Terminal D’s ongoing revitalization efforts will benefit from this funding, contributing to recent projects such as flooring, furniture, lighting replacement, and aesthetic enhancements.
This grant underscores Houston Airports’ success in securing federal funding for critical infrastructure projects. Over the past year, the FAA has awarded several grants, totaling millions of dollars, for various improvements across both Bush and Hobby Airports. These investments demonstrate a commitment to providing world-class facilities and sustainable infrastructure for travelers.
“In 2023, Houston Airports welcomed a record 60.1 million passengers, with a vast majority flying through Bush Airport,” said Jim Szczesniak, Interim Director of Aviation for Houston Airports. “It’s imperative that Houston Airports continue to invest in improving its infrastructure to meet increasing passenger demand. This funding affords Bush Airport the opportunity to create a more functional and efficient passenger experience, from curb to gate.”
Houston Airports is steadfast in its commitment to delivering a premier travel experience. The ongoing backing from the FAA enables crucial upgrades that enhance the satisfaction and success of both passengers and airport personnel.
