Fiji Airways soars into new territory with inaugural flight to New Caledonia

Fiji Airways has initiated non-stop flights between Nadi and New Caledonia, marking the inaugural departure from Nadi International Airport this afternoon.

With the introduction of bi-weekly flights connecting Nadi International Airport and La Tontouta International Airport in Noumea, the National Airline’s global reach expands to encompass 26 international destinations.

Mr. Andre Viljoen, the Company Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, expressed enthusiasm about the significant potential New Caledonia holds, particularly for transit guests.

“I’m pleased to include New Caledonia in the growing roster of international destinations served by Fiji Airways from our Nadi hub. As the demand for Pacific and global connectivity rises, we are prepared to meet this need whenever and wherever possible.”

The National Airline will operate services between Nadi and Noumea twice a week, every Monday and Thursday. The flight schedules are designed for seamless connections with the airline’s extensive global network.

“Given New Caledonia’s status as a French territory, there is considerable traffic between France and Noumea. We are uniquely positioned to offer seamless travel options through our flights to North America and Asia, as well as codeshare arrangements.”

Mr. Viljoen emphasized the substantial improvement in regional connectivity, boasting the most comprehensive Pacific network with regular flights and smooth onward connections.

Fiji Airways anticipates a surge in travel between Nadi and New Caledonia, foreseeing new tourism opportunities for both nations through these direct flights. Moreover, the Fijian population in New Caledonia now has convenient access to visit family and friends, facilitated by the airline recently recognized as the Best Airline in Australia and the Pacific for 2023 by SKYTRAX.
