Four seasons

In 2024, the Balinese Galungan and Kuningan holidays, occurring every 210 days, usually don’t align, but this year marks a rare exception. Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay and Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan are commemorating this special convergence with exclusive cultural, wellness, and culinary experiences as part of two enticing accommodation promotions – Stay Longer – Fourth Night Free and the Indonesia Residents Offer. For those checking in on March 9 or 10, additional perks include complimentary breakfast and dinner for two on Nyepi, March 11, 2024.

Nyepi, or Balinese New Year, is a unique event celebrated around March each year. In a world often dominated by noise and speed, Nyepi stands out as a transformative, Silent Day, providing insight into Bali’s rich culture. Balinese people embrace a digital detox, focusing on silence, introspection, prayer, and meditation. The entire island observes a 24-hour period of silence, with no lights or fires allowed. Families come together, embodying values like kindness, connection, and love. The day before Nyepi sees cultural events, including parades and the ritual burning of Ogoh-Ogoh puppets in each village.

Kuningan, the peak of the Galungan festival, takes place on March 9, 2024, celebrating the triumph of virtue over evil. Over ten days, the island comes alive with ritual events, vibrant decorations, and offerings to the spirits.

Both Four Seasons Resorts Bali recognize the importance of stillness for enhanced creativity and self-understanding. Guests can choose from various mindful Nyepi events, such as learning Aksara (Sanskrit calligraphy), crafting Balinese herbal tonics (jamu), and making decorative ornaments (klangsah) from coconut leaves. Special Kuningan celebrations feature sacred dining, traditional performances, and unique experiences.

On Nyepi Eve at Sayan, guests can participate in Afternoon Power Yoga to shake off the stresses of the past year. On March 11, both resorts offer peaceful spa and wellness experiences, including meditation, AntiGravity Yoga, Sound Healing, and Womb Wellness Yoga. Nyepi evening includes a special New Year meditation at Sayan, allowing guests to indulge in restorative stargazing under the flight- and light-free skies.

Nyepi is an ideal time for families to visit Bali, offering uninterrupted bonding and immersion in local culture. The Umah Rare Kids Club at Jimbaran Bay and the Pici-Pici Kids Club at Sayan provide authentic Balinese games, cultural experiences, and arts programs inspired by the festivals.
