Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) in Bangkok, Thailand, was recorded as the most affected hub in terms of flight cancellations. A total of nine flights were suspended at this major gateway, which represents half of the day’s total grounded flights across the reported locations. Furthermore, 212 flights were subjected to delays, positioning Bangkok at the centre of the day’s service interruptions.

Soekarno–Hatta International Airport (CGK) in Jakarta, Indonesia, recorded a high number of delayed flights. A significant 385 delays were registered at this facility, indicating substantial congestion and schedule adherence issues. Additionally, three flights were cancelled, contributing to the overall regional disruption tally.

In Haneda Airport (HND) in Tokyo, Japan, the operational environment was challenged by delays. This airport logged the highest delay figure of all reported locations, with 481 flights being delayed. Two cancellations were also confirmed at this key Japanese hub.

Incheon International Airport (ICN) in South Korea and Changi Airport (SIN) in Singapore were also significantly impacted. At Incheon, 232 delays were confirmed alongside two cancellations. Changi Airport, a major Southeast Asian transit hub, reported 238 delays and two cancellations, demonstrating that widespread schedule problems were not isolated to any single geographical sub-region.

Impacted Airlines

The responsibility for the confirmed flight suspensions across Asia, has been distributed among a selection of international and regional air carriers, highlighting a multi-airline operational challenge.

At Suvarnabhumi Airport, the nine cancellations were attributed to three airlines. Sky Angkor was noted for the highest number of grounded services, with four cancellations being confirmed. Bangkok Airways followed with three cancellations, while Myanmar National Airlines registered two cancellations.

The three cancelled flights at Soekarno–Hatta International Airport were spread across one regional and two international carriers. Batik Air and Hainan Airlines each accounted for one cancellation, with Indonesia’s national carrier, Garuda Indonesia, also confirming one cancellation at the Jakarta hub.

The two cancellations at Incheon International Airport were attributed to major international operators, with one each being confirmed for United Airlines and Jetstar. Similarly, the two cancelled flights at Changi Airport involved Jetstar and Garuda Indonesia.

The vast majority of the collective 1,548 delays were spread across numerous other carriers, like Thai Airways, Indonesia AirAsia, Korean Air, Singapore Airlines, Japan Airlines and many more. Operating at all five affected facilities, suggesting a network-wide propagation of schedule adherence issues.
