flynas, the primary national and leading low-cost airline in both the Middle East and globally, has reported exceptional performance for 2023 compared to the previous year, 2022. Notably, they achieved record-breaking results, witnessing a historic surge in passenger numbers, surpassing 11.1 million passengers, marking a remarkable growth rate of over 28%.

Throughout 2023, the prominent LCC bolstered its fleet by acquiring 19 new aircraft, elevating its total fleet count to 64—an impressive increase of more than 35%. This strategic fleet expansion facilitated the execution of their growth and expansion plans encapsulated under the motto “We Connect the World to the Kingdom.” As a result, flynas successfully launched 57 new destinations spanning 10 countries, inaugurated its fourth operational hub at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah, and substantially augmented seat capacity by 22% across domestic and international flights.

On this occasion, Bander Almohanna, flynas CEO and Managing Director said: “We are proud of flynas’ performance and results in 2023, which reflect the strength of our business model, the distinguished effort made by our team, and the effectiveness of our strategic plan for growth and expansion.”

“Our consistent investments in expanding our fleet size and destination network have significantly fortified our position both regionally and globally, leading to advancements in the esteemed Skytrax ratings. We’ve secured a place among the top 4 LCCs globally and hold the distinction of being the best in the Middle East,” added Almohanna.

Almohanna further highlighted, “flynas introduced numerous innovative initiatives and products, ensuring a unique travel experience for our guests—a first of its kind within the Kingdom. Our commitment to pioneering solutions and cutting-edge technologies is evident in our passengers’ experiences as we steadfastly pursue our strategic objectives. Concurrently, we align with the Pilgrims Experience Program (PEP) to facilitate access to the Two Holy Mosques and the National Civil Aviation Strategy, aiming to connect KSA with 250 international destinations, accommodate 330 million passengers, and host 100 million tourists annually by 2030.”

Speaking about flynas’ remarkable achievements and ambitious future plans, Almohanna stated, “Our robust partnerships and reliable operations enabled us to double our fleet size by over 100% in less than two years. Additionally, we’ve inked a significant agreement with Airbus for the acquisition of 30 new A320neo aircraft, part of a 120-aircraft order valued at over 32 billion riyals, with plans to further increase this order to 250 aircraft.”

He concluded by affirming flynas’ determination to expand into new markets, teasing forthcoming announcements in the first quarter of 2024. This expansion comes amidst the flourishing Saudi Arabian aviation industry, supported by the Kingdom’s strong economy and the ambitious Saudi Vision 2030 programs, particularly in the tourism and travel sectors.

flynas’ exceptional performance received international acclaim, securing multiple prestigious awards, including the Skytrax International Award for the 4th Best LCC globally and the Best Low-cost Airline in the Middle East for the sixth consecutive year in 2023. Additionally, flynas clinched the Best Low-cost Airline Award in the Middle East from the World Travel Awards for the ninth consecutive year in 2023.
