For GCC, Saudi Arabia introduces tourist visa scheme

For the residents of the GCC, the US, the UK, and the EU, Saudi Arabia has declared about a scheme to apply for tourist visas. This move is targeted to boost tourist arrival number to the country.


On Wednesday, Ahmed Al Khateeb, Tourism Minister, signed a verdict to make it quicker and hassle-free to visit Saudi Arabia, the government confirmed.


The GCC residents, under the recent regulations, will have the choice to apply online for an e-visa through the portal.


Also, the scheme will let the residents of the US, the UK, and EU to apply for a visa on arrival.


Valid tourist or business visa holders to the US, UK, or the Schengen zone countries can apply for a visa on arrival on the ground that the other visa has been used once at least to enter the issuing country.


Also, for many would-be visitors, the kingdom has stopped the obligation to report to the embassy of their country before entering Saudi Arabia, which will additionally make the process easy.


Mr Al Khateeb said that elevating the visitor experience is at the heart of the future of tourism.


By harnessing digital improvement and streamlining the journey of the traveler, Saudi Arabia is welcoming more and more visitors.


He also added that the move was part of the Vision 2030 of Saudi Arabia and a crucial step in building up a sustainable, resilient and competitive tourism sector.
