Marking a significant milestone as the city’s first international luxury brand to debut in over a decade, the newly inaugurated Four Seasons Hotel Dalian emerges as a symbol of elegance and refinement within the heart of the Donggang harbour district. Nestled amidst captivating harbour sights and sweeping views of an urban expanse, featuring tree-dotted avenues and vibrant plazas stretching towards distant mountains, visitors are enveloped in the sumptuous comfort and heartfelt hospitality that is synonymous with Four Seasons.

“Four Seasons Hotel Dalian marks our entry into China’s Northeast, and another milestone in our strategic growth in China and the broader region,” says Rainer Stampfer, Four Seasons President, Global Operations, Hotels and Resorts. “As we continue to grow, this project exemplifies our approach to introducing new luxury experiences that are uniquely reflective of their destinations, with every thoughtful detail setting the stage for the caring service for which Four Seasons is globally renowned.”

Revitalized Aesthetics

Originating as a quaint fishing village on the Liaodong peninsula, this city transformed into a pivotal port around the beginning of the 20th century, establishing vital connections via rail and sea to northern China, Russia, Japan, and further. Presently, Dalian stands as a critical center for business, industry, science, and transport within the area, further enhanced by its diverse cultural history and abundant leisure activities, making it an increasingly popular leisure destination.

This rich historical background served as the inspiration behind the interiors of the NBBJ Shanghai-designed building, masterfully executed by the internationally renowned Hirsch Bedner Associates of Singapore. The interior design of the Four Seasons Hotel Dalian is deeply influenced by the city’s historical connections, especially its ties to railway travel and its enchanting charm. The concept cleverly incorporates Dalian’s distinct seasonal changes, facilitating seamless transitions within the hotel’s public areas. These range from winter-inspired elements in the 41st-floor lobby and spring-inspired colors and materials in the event spaces, to a bright, sunlit atmosphere in the spa and wellness center, including the impressive indoor pool on the 38th floor, and concluding with the autumnal warmth and earthy tones that bring a sense of luxurious comfort to the hotel’s 254 guest rooms and suites located on the 23rd to 36th floors.

Design details subtly invoke the romanticism of railway journeys, incorporating track-like patterns in the lobby’s marble floors and custom-made carpets in the rooms, gently arched ceilings in the grand ballroom, and room views that mimic the exclusive experience of a private railcar gliding through scenic landscapes. The hotel is adorned with large-scale commissioned artworks, including dramatic lighting fixtures, that capture the essence of Dalian’s varied terrain and the spectacular vistas in every direction.

The hotel’s signature dining venues were imaginatively designed by Tokyo’s Strickland, drawing direct inspiration from Dalian’s cultural and historical essence to craft authentic, memorable dining experiences. This includes traditional floral patterns and fabric wall art in the contemporary setting of the Japanese restaurant Yotsuba, an elegant fiery red decor for the classic Cantonese dishes at Saai Yue Heen, and the vibrant, European-style market atmosphere of HUIHAI.

Dalian’s Latest Culinary Hotspot

“Establishing a new culinary destination for both local guests and visitors to the city was a key part of our planning process,” notes General Manager Wayne Tan, a Four Seasons veteran who has overseen Michelin starred and World’s 50 Best restaurants and bars in Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Macau and Hong Kong.  “We wanted to offer fresh and unique concepts that will showcase the very highest quality in culinary arts and mixology, served with flair and highly personalized service in camera-ready settings that evoke the cosmopolitan feel of Dalian.”

Under the guidance of Executive Chef Yeoh Chin Foong, with his extensive experience from Guangdong, Saai Yue Heen’s menu is a collaborative effort of a diverse culinary team, each contributing their unique flair and expertise. Yotsuba delivers traditional Japanese dishes in a modern setting, while HUIHAI delights with its open kitchen and market-style dining, offering Western and international dishes throughout the day.

Visitors can indulge in the city’s premier Skyline Afternoon Tea at the Lobby Lounge located on the 41st floor, where the experience is enhanced by guéridons and trolleys, and cherry-blossom themed delicacies are served alongside premium Chinese and international teas.

The Harbour Bar, true to its name, incorporates maritime-themed decor, reflecting the locale’s evolution from a fishing village to a major international port. The bar offers a stylish, lively atmosphere with expertly crafted cocktails and an extensive selection of spirits from around the globe.

Fresca, a quaint café at street level, provides a perfect spot for a break with both indoor and outdoor seating, ideal for a leisurely coffee, dessert, or grabbing refreshments to start the day.

The Four Seasons Hotel Dalian also features the exclusive 33rd floor Executive Club Lounge, offering a private, refined space for business and leisure guests to enjoy special privileges, snacks, and a comfortable area for meetings or relaxation, with attentive service available from early morning until late evening.

Whether for work, relaxation, or leisure, the hotel’s proximity to the Dalian International Conference Center, advanced in-room technologies, and expansive event space, make it an exceptional choice. The hotel specializes in social events and weddings, with dedicated teams to ensure every detail is perfect, from custom menus to seamless experiences.

The Spa on the 38th floor offers a serene environment with expert therapies, complemented by a state-of-the-art fitness center and infinity-edge pool with stunning city views.

Guests are encouraged to explore Dalian’s charm with the help of the concierge team, offering tailored tours including historical landmarks, local markets, and unique experiences like vintage tram rides, ensuring a memorable stay.

In celebration of its opening, Four Seasons Hotel Dalian presents special offers available online and through additional booking channels.

Four Seasons Hotel Dalian adds to the growing portfolio of Four Seasons properties in China, alongside the recent openings in Suzhou and upcoming projects in Hangzhou, Xi’an, and Shanghai, showcasing Four Seasons’ expansion in the region. The hotel is a venture by China Green Development Investment Group, under the State Grid Corporation of China.
