Renowned real estate visionary Peter Freed of Freed Developments has unveiled plans for the groundbreaking Freed Hotel and Residences tower, set at the intersection of Adelaide and Duncan Streets, just west of University Avenue in Toronto. This monumental $800M skyscraper project will introduce a fusion of luxury hospitality and residential living, boasting the first-ever collaboration between Katsuya by Sam Nazarian’s Disruptive Group by sbe and the acclaimed artwork of Japanese artist Takashi Murakami to the city.

Crafted by the expertise of Chicago-based tall building specialists Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, renowned for their work on iconic structures like the Jeddah Tower in Saudi Arabia and Central Park Tower in New York, this architectural marvel will offer 100 lavish hotel rooms, 400 luxury condominiums, and a world-class Skybar/restaurant on its 63rd floor. The second floor will house a 10,000 sq ft Katsuya Restaurant, marking the esteemed brand’s Canadian debut.

Sam Nazarian’s sbe, a leading lifestyle hospitality company, anticipates the eagerly awaited opening of Katsuya in Canada, set to redefine Toronto’s culinary landscape upon its launch in Fall 2028. This announcement follows Nazarian’s 2020 sale of his hospitality brand, which included over 100 hotels and more than 150 restaurants, culminating in over $4 billion in luxury residential sales.

Takashi Murakami’s captivating artwork, “Together with the Flower Parent and Child,” will adorn the lobby of the Freed Hotel and Residences, adding a cultural dimension to the project. Celebrated globally for his contributions to contemporary visual culture, Murakami’s iconic motifs will resonate with residents and visitors alike.

Peter Freed, Founder and CEO of Freed Developments, expresses his profound commitment to Toronto through this transformative project, which merges art, culture, and sophistication. With over three decades of experience, Freed Developments aims to set a new standard for luxury living in the heart of the city.

Designed by Toronto’s DesignAgency, the interiors of Freed Hotel and Residences will complement the contemporary architecture and Murakami sculpture, offering residents and guests an immersive experience that embodies luxury and innovation.

Key highlights of the project include the debut of Freed Hotel in Canada, luxury hotel rooms and condominiums, the introduction of Katsuya Restaurant to Canada, integration of Takashi Murakami’s artwork, and an array of amenities such as a Sky Lobby, boutique spa, outdoor garden, fitness studio, private theater, valet parking, and full-service concierge.

Freed Developments, with its impressive portfolio and track record of success, continues to shape Toronto’s skyline and lifestyle landscape. Stay tuned for further updates as Freed at Blue Mountain prepares to join the prestigious lineup of properties under Freed Hotel & Resorts.
