On Friday, the UK government has declared about its plans to end COVID-19 travel rules. British transport secretary, Grant Shapps, shared the news. At present, before arrival, travellers to the UK need to complete locator form and unvaccinated travellers need to take a COVID-19 test before departure, following other rules. Now, the government has taken a decision to remove all the remaining rules for travelers.

Shapps took to Twitter and made it clear that all rules will end at 04:00 on Friday. He tweeted: “These changes are possible due to our vaccine rollout and mean greater freedom in time for Easter.”

It signifies that from now on, even the ones who are not fully vaccinated can come to the UK without any hassle. Before and after entering the UK, such travellers will not have to take any COVID-19 tests. Also, the passenger locator form rule has also been closed down.

The UK government while talking about the new Covid strains in the future explained that they would make use of the least-stringent measures for limiting travel along with the “Living with Covid” plan.

The busiest airport of UK, Heathrow, also has stated that from Wednesday, it would end its mandatory mask rules. However, flyers will have to wear a mask when on routes to or from nations where local mask mandates exist.
