Holland America Line has released details on its 2028 Alaska cruise schedule showing longer itineraries and new routes. Holland America Line offers cruises from Seattle, Vancouver, and San Diego on newly upgraded ships to provide its customers a variety of ways to explore the landscape and waters of Alaska. There are cruises available that provide access to Glacier Bay and Nootka Sound, as well as longer coastal journeys. Holland America Line offers scenic glacier cruising as well, providing Alaska cruisers with unique experiences.

The 2028 Alaska programme will be operated by six ships, including Oosterdam, Noordam, Eurodam, Koningsdam, Westerdam and Zaandam. Oosterdam will make its first Alaska season appearance after receiving the cruise line’s Evolution upgrades, while also becoming the primary vessel for Alaska Cruisetours.

The new season has been designed to provide travellers with more opportunities to explore Alaska’s glaciers, fjords, forests, wildlife areas and remote coastal landscapes through a combination of classic routes and less-frequented waterways.

New Alaska Voyages Bring Longer Journeys And Exclusive Coastal Discoveries

Holland America Line will introduce two new itineraries for the 2028 Alaska season, adding more variety for travellers looking for extended exploration.

The first new sailing will be an 11-day California to Alaska: Shores, Fjords & Glaciers voyage aboard Zaandam. Departing from San Diego on April 29, 2028, the cruise will travel north towards Vancouver while showcasing dramatic coastal scenery, fjords and glacier landscapes along the route.

Another highlight will be the 16-day Great Bear Rainforest & Alaska Explorer voyage aboard Oosterdam. Departing roundtrip from Vancouver on April 28, 2028, the itinerary will focus on some of the most impressive natural environments in the region, combining Alaska’s wilderness with the spectacular coastal areas of British Columbia.

These additions reflect the growing demand among cruise travellers for longer journeys that offer deeper connections with destinations rather than traditional short visits.

Nootka Sound Joins Holland America Line’s Alaska Scenic Cruising Experience

A major feature of the 2028 Alaska season will be the introduction of scenic cruising through Nootka Sound on selected Great Alaska Explorer and Great Bear Rainforest voyages.

Located on the western coast of Vancouver Island, Nootka Sound is a remote and rarely visited waterway known for its untouched surroundings, rugged coastline and peaceful natural environment. The inclusion of this destination will provide passengers with a new perspective of the Pacific Northwest.

The addition of Nootka Sound highlights the cruise line’s focus on offering travellers access to unique landscapes beyond the most frequently visited Alaska locations.

Wide Range Of Alaska Cruise Options From Seattle And Vancouver

The 2028 programme will include several popular Alaska itineraries designed for different travel preferences, from shorter seven-day cruises to longer wilderness-focused journeys.

The 14-day Great Alaska Explorer aboard Noordam will operate roundtrip from Seattle, with departures scheduled on June 4 and August 20, 2028.

The 18-day Great Bear Rainforest & Alaska Explorer aboard Zaandam will depart roundtrip from Vancouver on September 13, 2028, offering an extended journey through scenic coastal regions.

The seven-day Glacier Discovery voyages aboard Oosterdam and Eurodam will operate between Vancouver and Whittier, Alaska, with 36 departures planned throughout the season.

The seven-day Alaska Inside Passage cruises aboard Koningsdam, Zaandam and Oosterdam will provide 46 departures from Vancouver, while the seven-day Alaska Explorer voyages aboard Westerdam and Noordam will offer 45 roundtrip departures from Seattle.

These cruises will allow visitors to experience Alaska’s famous glaciers, wildlife habitats, coastal communities and iconic waterways.

Oosterdam Takes Leading Role In Alaska Cruisetour Programme

Oosterdam will have a key role in Holland America Line’s 2028 Alaska operations following its Evolution upgrades. The ship will serve as the main vessel for Alaska Cruisetours, which combine cruise journeys with inland exploration.

Alaska Cruisetours provide travellers with the opportunity to discover more of the destination by connecting coastal sailing with land-based experiences. Additional details about the 2028 Cruisetour offerings will be announced separately.

Early Booking Benefits Enhance 2028 Alaska Cruise Experiences

Travellers reserving selected 2028 Alaska cruises will have access to the Have It All Early Booking Bonus, offering additional value through a range of included benefits.

The package includes shore excursion credits, specialty dining, an Elite Beverage Package, premium Wi-Fi, prepaid Crew Appreciation and a Best Price Guarantee.

With new itineraries, upgraded ships and access to rarely explored waterways, Holland America Line’s 2028 Alaska season will provide travellers with more ways to experience one of the world’s most spectacular cruise destinations.
