Galveston Island’s tourism sector witnesses record financial success

Galveston Island’s tourism sector witnessed record-setting financial success, counting $1.2 billion in yearly tourist expenditure, as per a recently released report.

The results of the report show that last year visitor expenditure in Galveston augmented 27% while tourist visit touched the highest 8.1 million visitors, marking a 25% surge compared to 2021 and 10.9% surge from 2019 before the pandemic.


$228.5 million in taxes were produced from tourism expenditure with the sector generating more than
11,800 employments.


Visit Galveston happens to be the authorized destination marketing association of Galveston Island.


The association released the outcomes of its new financial impression reading celebrating the U.S. Travel
Association’s National Tourism Week which took place this week from May 7-13.


Kelly de Schaun, the Chief Executive Officer of the Galveston Park Board said that the tourism division is
an important component of the economy of Galveston. Schaun said that they are excited to witness record- breaking financial influences. The organization looks after Visit Galveston along with beach conservation on the island.


Marty Fluke, Park Board Chairman said that the tourism sector is important for the financial achievement of their city and state. Tourism generates employments, backs indigenous businesses and creates tax revenue funding indispensable facilities for their community.


Galveston’s tourism sector is predictable to grow in the approaching years, with a lot of new expansions and allures scheduled for the city. The Galveston Park Board is dedicated toward functioning with industry
associates for boosting Galveston as a leading travel place and bolster financial development for the city.
