Cheetahs will soon be introduced to Gandhisagar Sanctuary, marking a major tourism boost and making it India’s second site after Kuno to house these majestic animals.

Cheetahs are set to be introduced at Gandhisagar Sanctuary in an effort to enhance tourism in the area, according to Mandsaur Collector Aditi Garg. She made this announcement on Monday during the inauguration of the Gandhisagar Forest Retreat 3.0. This initiative will make Gandhisagar the second location in India, after Kuno, to house cheetahs, adding a unique attraction to the region.

The event, aimed at promoting tourism, began with a traditional ‘Aarti’ ceremony performed by Garg at the Chambal river. The ceremony highlighted the cultural significance of the region and underscored the collaborative efforts to develop it as a tourist destination. The retreat marks a key step in boosting the area’s visibility.

Garg emphasized the ongoing partnership between the state governments of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan to improve connectivity between Gandhisagar and Kota. This cross-state initiative is expected to attract more visitors by making travel between these regions easier and more convenient.

Additionally, Garg spotlighted the rich cultural and archaeological heritage of Gandhisagar. Tourist attractions such as the Hinglaj Temple, Chaturbhuj Nala, and Pashupatinath Temple offer significant appeal, drawing visitors interested in history and spirituality.

The development of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is also expected to play a crucial role in increasing tourism. With improved access between Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, this infrastructure will make travel to Gandhisagar more seamless, thereby encouraging further tourist growth.
