Germany becomes the latest European nation to make vaccines mandatory obeying a worrying spike in COVID cases. A step to make jabs compulsory was “unavoidable” as the country grabbled with a fourth coronavirus wave said by Ministers and experts. In Europe, thousands protested over the weekend against new COVID measures. Jens Spahn (Health Minister) said he wasn’t ruling out mandatory vaccination.

On Saturday, the European powerhouse recorded 48,201 infections. Austria made vaccinations compulsory from 1st Feb and from Monday prepared to plunge itself into a brutal 20-day lockdown. WHO (World Health Organization) said Europe is the only region in the world where last week COVID-related deaths had increased.

Thomas BareiB (The Country’s tourism czar) said it is not justified politically that entire industries, retailers, restaurants, clubs, bars, and the entire cinema, cultural and event scene live in a state of crisis prescribed by the state for 20months. Jens Spahn declared he won’t rule out an Austrian-style full lockdown. All are in a national emergency.

Germany already introduced a ban on unvaccinated people from shops and restaurants. In a recent study prediction, it came out that Europe can face an additional “3,00,000 deaths and 1 million people in the hospital” in case COVID restrictions aren’t tightened further over winter. Austria to plunge back into a nationwide lockdown from  Monday.

Alexander Schallenberg said lockdown would run for a “maximum of 20 days”. Austria registered 15,145 new COVID cases on Thursday.
