Ghana and Morocco are moving closer to establishing a visa-free travel arrangement that promises to deepen their diplomatic, economic, and cultural connections. Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, announced that a formal agreement is set to be tabled before both parliaments in the near future. This follows high-level talks with Morocco’s Ambassador to Ghana, Imane Ouaadil, and is poised to streamline travel for businesspeople, tourists, and students, while encouraging greater trade and investment flows between the two nations.

Alongside plans to lift travel restrictions, Morocco has also significantly increased its annual scholarship quota for Ghanaian students—from 90 to 180 spots—a move that underscores the countries’ growing educational cooperation. These initiatives reflect a stronger bilateral relationship and identify tourism as a vital area for mutual growth. Once officially ratified, the visa exemption is expected to boost cross-border travel and cultural interaction, aligning both nations more closely with Africa’s integrated tourism and development goals.
