The Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) have formalized their collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The primary objective of this agreement is to enhance cooperation between the two entities, fostering synergies to promote the adoption of sustainable practices and the GSTC Criteria within the travel and tourism sector in Malta.
As part of the collaboration, GSTC will provide support to MTA in revitalizing and managing the Maltese national program for sustainable hotels and accommodations. The MOU was signed by Randy Durband, CEO of GSTC, and Carlo Micallef, CEO of MTA, during the inaugural National Tourism Conference organized by the Malta Tourism Observatory on December 6th, 2023. The conference, held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta, featured discussions led by local and international speakers, addressing pertinent issues in the tourism sector from various perspectives—local, regional, and global.

We eagerly anticipate a fruitful partnership with MTA.”
