Indian state Goa thinking to tune sports with tourism

Rohan Khaunte, the Tourism Minister of Goa said that his department is thinking to mingle sports with tourism by developing beach volleyball and beach cricket in the seaside state for giving a major push to both areas.


Khaunte said that in sports tourism, they are envisaging in terms of beach volleyball, beach cricket, and they would do that in diverse designs. He said that he is in touch with the sports minister, and is trying to exchange talks with the Central government to see how it can be done and can be linked with tourism.


The minister said that innovative considerations are required in both sports and tourism. Beach volleyball globally, beach cricket worldwide played will be on diverse platforms. New programmes will be added as required, he opined.


Even biking can be synchronized with tourism and for that, both the departments need to deliberate on the proposal.


Khaunte said that they need to sit together and go out and find out how things help.


Earlier, the minister had announced co-working space idea to be applied in the beaches for luring professionals by providing to their requirements. This could help professionals holidaying in Goa to relish ‘Sun-Sand-Sea’ together with using their work tool ‘Software’.
