According to recent updates, the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) has commenced arranging jeep safaris for Dudhsagar Waterfall. For safety considerations, the forest drive and these falls were shut down during the monsoon.

GTDC Chairman Ganesh Gaonkar, at an event celebrating the reopening of tourism activities in Kullem, revealed that the tourism corporation has chosen an agency to oversee the online management of all Dudhsagar Waterfall-related activities. He emphasized that the tourism department is committed to improving facilities for both tourists and drivers and asked the local panchayat to work with GTDC in the digitisation initiatives.

Mr. Gaonkar also advised jeep drivers to treat visitors with consideration, respect, and responsibility and to make sure they depart with priceless memories. He added that all trails and hikes throughout Goa will be under the supervision of the Goa Forest Development Corporation (GFDC).

Usually, the jeep safari season at Dudhsagar starts on October 2 each year. On weekdays, about 170 jeeps are allowed, and on weekends, that number rises to 225. In order to minimize disturbance to wildlife, the forest department limits the number of cars going through the forest. Transporters face a challenging 14 km round trip, ferrying passengers along the same route. The main source of income for the locals in Dudhsagar now that the local mines have closed is tourism. For a total of INR 3500 every trip, each registered jeep operator with the Forest Department carries about seven people at a cost of INR 500 each.

Mr. Gaonkar encouraged individuals to report any problems they encounter, allowing the government to address them swiftly. Due to safety concerns, the forest administration had prohibited tourists from Dudhsagar Falls during the monsoon. However, some visitors made an effort to reach the falls via different ways. Mr. Gaonkar disclosed that the GTDC is actively engaged in the promotion of sustainable tourism in the hinterland regions of the state.
