Göteborg Landvetter Airport

In the last half-year, Göteborg Landvetter has seen a comprehensive overhaul of its commercial facilities, aimed at exceeding passenger expectations. The culmination of this renovation was marked by speeches, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and festivities on March 26th. Among those present were Airport Director Anna Strömwall, Björn Olsson − CEO of Scandinavian Service Partner AB (SSP), overseeing five newly established airport restaurants, and, notably, the passengers who traversed the airport on the day of its inauguration.

“It feels wonderful to be here today to celebrate this milestone with our partners and passengers. We have a brand new commercial offering and a brand new, significantly improved, passenger experience, which has been developed here at Göteborg Landvetter over the past six months, where we have listened to our passengers and brought in variety in terms of the range of shopping, food and drink, and the price tag. There should be something for all tastes and all budgets. The feedback from our passengers has been very positive – many have said that is incredibly nice here, with all the new shops and restaurants,” says Anna Strömwall, airport director at Göteborg Landvetter Airport.

Since last autumn, Göteborg Duty Free, Pocket Shop, and Eton have welcomed new additions such as WHSmith, InMotion, and Sweshop. These new establishments offer a diverse selection of goods ranging from quick bites like hot dogs and sandwiches to a variety of snacks, drinks, electronics for travel, and a premium collection of souvenirs and gifts, catering to our passengers’ desire for unique local mementos to bring home.

The most notable transformation at the airport, however, lies in its expanding array of dining options. Esteemed brands like Joe & The Juice and Espresso House have reimagined themselves in fresh concepts and spaces, joining newcomers such as Bastard Burgers, PONG Sushi & Poké, Italian favorite Barino, Bistro & Bar, C/C Cornelius Coffee, and FIKA. The latter four, developed in-house by SSP for Swedavia’s airports, offer a range from high-quality coffee and traditional Swedish fika to relaxed dining experiences with the option to savor wine or beer in a pleasant bar setting. Furthermore, the beloved burger joint Max is currently renovating its departure hall space to unveil its new concept, scheduled to open in late spring.

“In our work to change and improve our commercial offering, we have listened to what the passengers have been asking for, such as being able to sit down and eat, but also that there should be a grab and go option to take with you on your journey. Our goal is to make shopping, food and drink part of the passenger experience. There should be a wide range of restaurants to suit many different needs and a variety of product ranges, price categories and brands. A stronger commercial offering is not only important for the passenger experience – it also helps us maintain competitive airport charges and, in the long run, improved connectivity both within Sweden and from western Sweden to the rest of the world,” says Charlotte Ljunggren, director of marketing and commercial development at Swedavia.

“This is an incredibly important day for us at SSP and a milestone for the big changes we have created here at Göteborg Landvetter Airport. Together with Swedavia, we have managed to create an entirely new range of food selection at the airport with something that suits all passengers and wallets. This has been achieved through an entirely new mix of external and proprietary brands, which create a nice oasis for meetings and comfort. Food and beverage are a natural part of a journey and with today’s opening celebrations, we are convinced that we have created a very positive experience for passengers,” says Björn Olsson, CEO for Scandinavian Service Partner AB (SSP).Here are the newly opened units at Göteborg Landvetter Airport.
