Gran Canaria continues to shine as one of Germany’s favorite holiday destinations, reaffirming its popularity at f.re.e Munich 2025, Bavaria’s largest travel and leisure fair. Turismo de Gran Canaria, in collaboration with Turespaña and OET Munich, showcased the island’s top attractions, reinforcing its appeal among German travellers.

With over 120,000 visitors and nearly 1,000 exhibitors, f.re.e Munich 2025 provided Gran Canaria with a prime opportunity to promote its diverse tourism offerings.
The event attracted families, young travelers, couples, and seniors, all seeking travel inspiration for 2025.

The Spanish Pavilion, led by Turespaña, featured a strong representation from the Canary Islands, with Gran Canaria standing out as a top destination.
Tourism officials highlighted outdoor adventures, hiking and cycling routes, and golf tourism, aligning with Bavaria’s travel preferences.

Germany remains a crucial market for Gran Canaria.
In 2024, the island welcomed 914,000 passengers and 866,000 tourists from Germany, reaffirming its status as the leading Canary Island destination.
With Bavarians known for their high purchasing power and strong affinity for Spain, Gran Canaria continues to attract repeat visitors and new explorers.
According to Spain’s Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Tourism, German tourism plays a significant role in Spain’s economy, with early bookings indicating a strong demand for 2025 vacations despite economic uncertainties.
During the first three days, f.re.e Munich 2025 saw a strong turnout of experienced travelers over 55, while the weekend attracted families, young couples, and adventure seekers.
Gran Canaria’s promotion of hiking, cycling, and golf tourism generated significant interest.
Golf remains a top attraction for Bavarians, who have a deep passion for the sport.
Gran Canaria Golf Association distributed exclusive promotional materials and gifts to potential visitors eager to experience the island’s premium golf courses.
As a key highlight, Turespaña hosted a professional networking event with major players in Germany’s tourism sector.
Attended by 40 industry representatives, the event included travel agencies, OTAs like lastminute.com and onlineweg.de, specialized tour operators such as Studiosus Reisen, and media giants like Axel Springer Verlag.
According to Spain’s National Statistics Institute (INE), early bookings for 2025 have started even earlier than usual, with a notable increase since November 2024.
German travelers continue prioritizing holidays, reinforcing Gran Canaria’s position as a preferred destination.
Gran Canaria’s presence at f.re.e Munich 2025 reaffirmed its appeal in one of Germany’s wealthiest regions.
With strong early booking trends and growing interest in active and luxury tourism, the island is set for another successful year in attracting German visitors.
