In a strategic move to boost tourism through small aircraft, the Greek Ministries of Infrastructure and Transport, as well as Tourism, have announced the temporary reinstatement of the Committee for Aviation Tourism. This committee is tasked with the responsibility of providing proposals, opinions, and suggestions for legislative reforms in the domain of aviation tourism. The initiative underscores the committee’s temporary nature, as it will be dissolved following the submission of a comprehensive report of its findings to the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport.

Ioannis Xifaras, serving as the Secretary-General of Infrastructure and Transport, has been designated as the chairman of this committee. The committee also boasts the involvement of Elena Rapti, the Deputy Minister of Tourism, alongside various aviation officials and experts, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table. It is noteworthy that the appointments to the committee are on a voluntary basis, with no financial remuneration, as stated by the ministry.

The re-establishment of the Committee for Aviation Tourism represents a pivotal effort by Greece to enhance its tourism sector by capitalizing on the niche area of small aircraft tourism. This approach not only aims to diversify the country’s tourism offerings but also to stimulate economic growth by attracting aviation enthusiasts and tourists seeking unique travel experiences. By exploring and implementing legislative reforms and proposals, Greece is positioning itself as a favorable destination for aviation tourism, which could have a ripple effect on global travel trends.

This initiative could potentially elevate Greece’s status on the international tourism stage, showcasing the country’s proactive measures to adapt to evolving tourism trends and preferences. The collaboration between the ministries and the involvement of experts in the committee underscore a comprehensive approach to fostering an environment conducive to aviation tourism, which is expected to contribute positively to the nation’s tourism industry.
