Greece wraps up a successful showing at OTM 2024, marking a significant presence on the international tourism front. The Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) leveraged the event to highlight Greece’s rich cultural heritage and diverse attractions, with a special focus on tapping into the rapidly growing Indian travel market.

Following a notable increase in tourism, with visitor numbers climbing from 27.8 million in 2022 to 32 million in 2023, Greece is eager to enhance its global tourism footprint. The country is dedicated to delivering exceptional travel experiences to a worldwide audience.

The potential of the Indian market has not gone unnoticed by Greece, which, encouraged by discussions between the Greek and Indian Prime Ministers in August 2023, aims to deepen economic and tourism relations. This includes improving air connectivity and promoting cultural exchanges to better serve Indian travelers.

Eleftheria Fili, a GNTO officer and member of the Greek delegation at OTM 2024, shared her enthusiasm about connecting with the Indian market: “OTM 2024 was a key platform for us to present the unique attractions of Greece to Indian tourists. We’re excited to expand our outreach in India, offering customized experiences that cater to Indian preferences. Our goal is to position Greece as a premier destination for Indian honeymooners, drawing on our rich cultural heritage and natural beauty.”

Greece’s picturesque Naxos Island, which featured in the Bollywood hit “Tiger Zinda Hai” in 2017, exemplifies the country’s appeal as a movie location and a magnet for Indian tourists.

The upcoming visit of the Greek Prime Minister to India highlights the countries’ commitment to strengthening their tourism partnership.

After its successful stint at OTM 2024, Greece is looking forward to welcoming Indian visitors, inviting them to discover its beauty and create lasting memories.
