GreenWood Family Park, nestled in Felinheli near Bangor in North Wales, is preparing to welcome the upcoming season with an exciting new addition and a significant expansion of its workforce. Having dedicated over £100,000 to the import and installation of the Forest Glider slide from the Netherlands, the park is set to unveil this unique attraction just in time for the Easter holidays. This move not only enhances the park’s offerings but also marks a considerable investment in the local tourism and employment sectors.

The Forest Glider, or Gleidar y Goedwig as it’s known in Welsh, distinguishes itself as the sole attraction of its kind in Wales. Towering at 20 meters with a steep 75-meter descent, it promises a thrilling experience for visitors. This launch coincides with GreenWood’s initiative to bolster its team by recruiting 100 seasonal workers, supplementing its 30-member permanent staff. This recruitment drive underscores the park’s commitment to delivering exceptional visitor experiences and its status as an eco-friendly destination, a reputation bolstered by its recognition as North Wales’s top tourist attraction by Trip Advisor.

2024 also commemorates the 20th anniversary of the Green Dragon rollercoaster, a zero-carbon, people-powered marvel that integrates seamlessly with the park’s wooded landscape. Alongside the Green Dragon, GreenWood’s commitment to sustainable entertainment is evident in its 30 other attractions, including the solar-powered Solar Splash water slide.

Owned by the Continuum Attractions group, GreenWood stands among a portfolio of renowned UK attractions. The introduction of the Forest Glider was meticulously managed by rides and activities manager Peter Froment, who emphasizes the park’s ongoing effort to innovate and enhance its attraction lineup. According to Froment, the Forest Glider offers a fun and eco-conscious addition, embodying GreenWood’s ethos of family-oriented and environmentally friendly entertainment.

In anticipation of a surge in tourism in 2024, GreenWood’s marketing manager, Kim Howie, highlights a growing interest in eco-friendly travel destinations. With the Forest Glider’s debut and the milestone anniversary of the Green Dragon, GreenWood is at the forefront of green tourism, driving both visitor engagement and local economic growth. The park’s expansion of its workforce and the introduction of a locals’ loyalty pass further contribute to its role as a key player in the regional economy, promising a vibrant and sustainable future for tourism in North Wales.
