Hainan Free Trade Port Launches Global Hunt for Top 10 Tourism and Cultural Gems

On February 23rd, the Hainan Free Trade Port, situated in China’s southern region, inaugurated its international search for the “Top 10 Hainan Tourism and Cultural Highlights.” This effort is designed to promote the best of Hainan’s tourism offerings and share the allure of China’s vacation hotspot with the world.

At the start of the month, Hainan broadened its visa exemption to include 59 nations, capturing international interest. This move facilitates easier access for various activities including business, tourism, family visits, healthcare, conferences, exhibitions, and sporting events.

This campaign, orchestrated by the Hainan Provincial Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television, and Sports, aims to put the spotlight on diverse aspects such as the Coastal Scenic Highway, aquatic tourism, tax-free shopping, wellness and leisure tourism, countryside tourism, tropical rainforest exploration, and tours focusing on non-material cultural heritage. The goal is to gradually introduce the enchanting landscapes, cultural and tourism attractions, and top-tier tourism and cultural offerings of Hainan to a worldwide online audience. This initiative seeks to enrich tourists’ choices and experiences, ensuring they leave with enduring impressions of Hainan and a profound respect for the island.

The campaign will be featured across various Facebook platforms, including “China Xinhua News,” “Xinhua Culture&Travel,” and “Show Me China.” Monthly, it will highlight unique tourism and cultural spots, new offerings, and creative leisure concepts from Hainan, inviting online users to cast their votes. Following the voting phase, the ten most popular tourism products will be recognized as this year’s “Hainan Tourism and Cultural Highlights” by China.
