Porter Airlines has started offering its first international flights from the John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (YHM). For the first time, Porter Airlines will offer residents from the greater Hamilton area direct flights to popular Florida and Mexico vacation destinations. This major route addition demonstrates the airline’s desire to keep expanding its network and to better assist Canadians with their travel needs and international travel opportunities.
Starting this week, Porter’s first international destinations will be Orlando (MCO) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL). These flights will be offered three times per week. Also, later this month, Porter plans to fly to Mexico, with new routes to Cancún (CUN) and Puerto Vallarta (PVR), making this airline a great option for Canadians seeking travel to North America and Caribbean locations.

Porter’s New International Routes: Hamilton’s New Link to Florida and Mexico
Porter Airlines’ ongoing expansion will improve travel options for customers from the Greater Hamilton area. Since June of the present year, domestic routes from Hamilton have allowed customers to travel to other popular Canadian cities such as Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, and Vancouver. Now, with the addition of flights to foreign destinations, customers have the ability to travel to major Canadian cities as well as hot, southern cities from their own local airport.
The flights will be operated using one of Porter’s modern and more “jet-like” options, the Embraer E195-E2. On all flights, there is a two-by-two seating configuration which allows a more generous pitch and a more comfortable ride for all customers. Other than their comfortable seat, customers are offered complimentary snacks, fast Wi-Fi, and a selection of premium beverages, including beer and wine. For PorterReserve customers, additional offerings provided are the fresh meals served onboard.

Andrew Pierce from Porter Airlines is pleased about the increased travel options from Hamilton. Andrew stated that Porter has a significant commitment to Hamilton, as evidenced by the ongoing growth at John C. Munro Hamilton Airport. Porter is trying to help passengers who want to travel out of Canada to travel to a beach or a new city, as Porter is starting new routes out of Canada. The increased flight options from Hamilton will make travel a lot easier for Hamilton and the surrounding area residents.
This also adds to Porter’s growing role in transforming Hamilton International into new travel opportunities for both domestic and international travelers. In addition to being in high demand for leisure travel, Porter’s new international routes to Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Cancún, and Puerto Vallarta also offer opportunities for the growing business travel sector.

On December 17, we will start flying Porter to Cancun and enjoy four round-trips a week to the popular Mexican vacation spot, which is one of Canada’s favorite destinations for its sun, sand, and sea. Also on December 18, we will start flying to Puerto Vallarta, which is one of the most beautiful. Newly with these routes, Porter gives travelers the perfect way to leave the cold and embrace Mexico’s and Florida’s rich history, vibrant culture, and beautiful, breathtaking sandy shores.
Porter’s Expansion and Its Impacts on Hamilton
Porter’s increased operations out of Hamilton show both the airline and the region’s demand for more international flight options. The airline’s expansion strategy, while gaining market share, continues to improve quality service while flying passengers to additional Florida and Mexico international routes. This expansion will make Hamilton International Airport more attractive to business and leisure travelers alike.
Executives, like Ed Ratuski, Managing Director of Hamilton International Airport, view Porter’s Service Expansion positively as demonstrating the airline’s commitment to service diversification for the region. This expansion offers travelers more options when visiting popular destinations without the burden of excessive travel time to the larger airports in Toronto and other major urban centers.
The timing of the introduction of these international flights coincides with the resurgence of travel demand and the increased interest in travel by Canadians as travel restrictions loosen. Hamilton International Airport’s new routes also improve the market position of the airport.
Porter Airlines Opens New Horizons From Hamilton
Porter Airlines’ new nonstop service to Florida and Mexico is a welcome addition for long-time travelers in Hamilton and nearby residents. Adding these international destinations is a great service to the traveling public. These new routes have great meaning for both Hamilton International Airport and Porter Airlines as they continue to buoy Hamilton’s position as a new travel center.
