Luxury cruise operator Hapag‑Lloyd Cruises is launching a simplified fare structure for all new bookings from 2 December 2025, dramatically streamlining what had been a three-tier system into just two fare options: PLATINUM and SILVER.
Luxury cruise operator Hapag-Lloyd Cruises will simplify the fare for new bookings made after December 2, 2025, and at the same time will dramatically reduce the previous three-tier system to two fare options only: PLATINUM and SILVER. The change comes in response to passengers’ demand for greater clarity and flexibility when planning voyages, a goal Hapag-Lloyd hopes will make the cruise-booking experience more intuitive and forgiving. As stated by a senior executive, the shift was designed to help travellers make clearer, easier decisions when charting their next adventure.

Under the new model, the previous three-tier system (which included PLATINUM, GOLD and SILVER) has been retired. From 2 December 2025, only PLATINUM and SILVER will be offered.
For travellers, this means more clarity at the time of booking; fewer tiers simplifies the decision process. Guests who value flexibility, perhaps because travel plans can change or because they book far in advance, will likely gravitate toward PLATINUM. Those who are comfortable with less flexibility in exchange for value may find SILVER suitable.
Importantly, for anyone who has already booked under the former fare structure (including GOLD), those conditions remain in place, only new bookings made from 2 December 2025 are subject to the two-fare model.
Hapag-Lloyd Cruises is also enhancing the onboard experience for all passengers, regardless of fare, beginning with departures from 3 January 2026. From that date, a complimentary selection of soft drinks will be made available throughout the day at no extra cost.

Beyond that, core amenities remain, and remain generous. Both PLATINUM and SILVER fares continue to include:
These enhancements reinforce Hapag-Lloyd’s commitment to an all-inclusive luxury travel experience, whether guests choose ultimate flexibility or opt for a more value-oriented fare.
For travellers planning a cruise, the new fare structure is a welcome simplification. Instead of deciding among three tiers, each with different trade-offs, guests can now choose between two clearly defined paths: flexibility or value. This helps remove ambiguity at the time of booking, especially for first-time cruisers or those comparing itineraries months or even years ahead.
The ability to rebook once (for free) under PLATINUM up to 90 days before departure is particularly valuable. Life circumstances (work commitments, family events, flight availability) change, and with this change, travellers can secure their cabin or suite early without locking themselves into a rigid plan. The cancellation window (up to 180 days prior) offers even greater peace of mind for long-term booking.
Meanwhile, the SILVER fare remains a reliable alternative for those who prefer to travel with minimal fuss. For budget-conscious travellers, including seasonal cruisers or first-time luxury-cruise explorers, SILVER offers a way into Hapag-Lloyd’s upscale world of fine dining, elegant accommodations and curated itineraries without the premium price tag attached to flexibility.
Finally, the enhanced inclusions, like free soft drinks, daily-replenished minibar, champagne on arrival and gourmet cuisine, underscore that even at the basic fare, guests are not sacrificing comfort or service.
The revised fare strategy forms part of a broader repositioning of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises as a modern, guest-centric luxury line. In 2025, the company also rolled out a refreshed brand identity embracing contemporary design and marketing, a move meant to resonate more with newer, younger travellers without losing the intimate, premium feel that long-time passengers value.
At the same time, Hapag-Lloyd is expanding the appeal of its cruises through measures such as bilingual operations (English and German) to comfortably accommodate international guests from early 2026 onward.
Taken together, the new fare structure and upgraded onboard offerings reflect a company adapting to evolving traveller expectations, transparency, flexibility, value and a seamless luxury experience.
For travellers plotting their next sea adventure, whether a glamorous cruise from Europe to the Mediterranean, polar exploration aboard an expedition ship, or a leisurely voyage across oceans, the new two-fare system of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises delivers a clearer decision point: do you value flexibility or value?
With PLATINUM, you gain peace of mind, the ability to rebook or cancel well in advance and choose your cabin or suite freely. With SILVER, you enjoy the essentials of a luxury cruise experience without the premium. And thanks to enhanced inclusions beginning January 2026, even value-focused travellers will feel well looked after, with complimentary soft drinks, gourmet dining, minibar, 24-hour cabin service and more.
For such travelers whose itineraries might change or who prefer to book way ahead with no penalties, the new tariff structure might be a big plus. Hapag-Lloyd Cruises seems to be taking a chance on that straightforward pricing – plus the abundant inclusions – will make a cruise planning as enjoyable as the trip itself.
