Strategic Merger with Alaska Airlines

December saw a significant joint announcement revealing Hawaiian Airlines’ acquisition by Alaska Airlines. President and CEO Peter Ingram expressed optimism about the collaboration, emphasizing the ability to deliver more for guests, employees, and the communities served by both airlines.

The Mālama Maui Desk facilitated crucial support, demonstrating a dedication to emergency response and recovery.

The airline’s partnership with Adient Aerospace for the Leihōkū Suites showcased innovation.

Network Expansion and Reconnection

Throughout the year, Hawaiian Airlines expanded its network, reconnecting with Pacific Island neighbors and resuming services to Japan. Announcements in December included new routes between Honolulu and Salt Lake City, Utah, and Sacramento, Līhuʻe, and Kona in May.

Showcasing Local Businesses In-Flight

Hawaiian Airlines continued to showcase local businesses in-flight. November brought new amenity kits and soft goods designed by Noho Home, while December saw the introduction of Kō Hana Rum craft cocktails to the North America main cabin menus, further emphasizing the airline’s commitment to local products.

The 2023 Corporate Kuleana Report highlighted environmental, social, and governance initiatives, emphasizing the airline’s commitment to sustainability.

Economic Impact and Community Support

Hawaiian Airlines commissioned a study revealing its $10.2 billion economic impact on Hawai‘i in 2022, supporting 53,500 jobs. The report, titled “No Kākou a Pau” (interconnectedness), emphasized the airline’s positive influence on the state’s economy. Continued support for nonprofit partners, such as the Polynesian Voyaging Society and Kākoʻo ʻŌiwi, showcased a commitment to community well-being.
