Hawaiian Airlines resume services to 10 US mainland destinations and Tokyo

Hawaiian Airlines has decided to restart services to 10 US mainland destinations and Tokyo following the state of Hawaii’s partial reopening. The state has finally decided to lift the 14-day quarantine requirement for arriving passengers after providing proof of a negative COVID-19 test that has been taken less than 72 hours before arrival.

The latest measure is set to take effect starting October 15. All nonstop service between the carrier’s home base at Honolulu and Las Vegas, Oakland, Phoenix and San Jose has already been resumed.

The Las Vegas flights will begin operating on October 1, with the others set to resume a month later. Hawaiian has decided to serve 10 West Coast cities, also including Portland, Seattle, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Diego and Los Angeles by mid-November.

Brent Overbeek, Senior Vice-President, Revenue Management and Network Planning said in a statement that the carrier is encouraged by the positive response to the state’s decision to welcome travelers back to Hawaii, and mentioned that it will resume service to key markets to give guests more options to visit the islands.

The airline has also mentioned that it will offer customers a drive-through coronavirus test opportunity at San Francisco International and Los Angeles International airports. The carrier is also resuming its weekly passenger flight to Tokyo’s Narita International airport on October 1, for the first time since March. It has also been operating cargo-only flights between Honolulu and Japan since June.
