Kiss Bridge, Vietnam, Valentine's Day

If one wants to sway like swans against the night sky vista or embrace the polaroidesque enigma of the sunset on Valentine’s Day, the Kiss Bridge in Vietnam is the place.

The Italian Baroque or the fresco painting by Michelangelo gliding past skyscrapers to reach for immortality exudes love. Such a picturesque architecture is Kiss Bridge, as the two ends of the bridge meander like branches and swirl like vines to touch each other.

The 800m long promenade is the newest tourist attraction on the island. It consists of two walkways that almost converge in the centre, but there is a 30cm distance between them, which is easily traversed to give someone standing on the other end a hug or kiss.

The bridge opened on December 22, 2023, and is nestled in Hoang Hon Town, Phu Quoc. It takes about an hour to reach Phu Quoc island by flight from Ho Chi Minh City.

On Valentine’s Day, couples emanate love like the wading waves against the lighthouse or entwine in a spring-laden canopy. When they are complemented by a destination as luminous and pristine as the wilderness, the passionate exultation discovers a language.

The distinctive design is said to have been derived from Michelangelo’s fresco, The Creation of Adam, that can be found in the Sistine Chapel. God and Adam are shown in the painting extending their hands to one another, the tips of their fingers almost touching one another.

The “Legend of Nguu Lang and Chuc Nu,” an old Vietnamese fairytale, is also said to have been inspired by this structure. The tale recounts the tale of two lovers who can only commune for a year on the O Thuoc Bridge because of the evil Jade Emperor.

With its immaculate beaches and awe-inspiring scenery, Phu Quoc is growing more and more renowned all around the globe as one of the best destinations for honeymooners.

Chairman Huynh Quang Hung told the media that he is sure that Kiss Bridge will be effective in putting Phu Quoc on the global map. This will furthermore attract travellers who wish to witness the brilliant architectural marvel, quite similar to what the Golden Bridge has had on Vietnamese tourism.
