Hogenakal falls lack basic amenities to attract tourists

The Tamil Nadu tourism should long back have capitalized on this attraction, but has failed sadly to draw the radical tourists to this Hogenakal waterfall area on the Kaveri River. Hotel TTDC is almost a ghost house than a Hotel in this area. There are no restaurants in the entire place, which serves good quality food. The conditions of toilets are awful.

The Government of Tamil Nadu should pay attention to all these and offer the one and only TTDC Hotel to a private concern so that it is managed properly and not used for car parking alone. One would certainly expect hot and refreshing food with clean washrooms after a long trip from Bangalore to Hogenakal as the highway stretches long and offers no good stopovers for food or rest.

However the Falls is outstanding! The state government of Tamil Nadu should take adequate measures and starts involving private organizations to develop the infrastructure in and around Hogenakal falls. The area around the falls is full of touts who control the coracle boat rides as the tourist department of the state has shut down. To get a good deal, one needs to bargain hard. Also, there are plenty of masseurs carrying bottle of oil and trying to allure tourists to have a massage before getting into the waters.
