Hong Kong Airlines joyously inaugurated its much-anticipated seasonal services to Yonago and Hakodate, introducing a two-month winter program commencing today and extending until February 2024 to cater to the peak travel periods of year-end festivities and Lunar New Year. Concurrently, the airline has elevated its Seoul service, transitioning from four weekly flights to a daily schedule starting December 17, offering increased flexibility for travelers.

The inaugural flights to Yonago and Hakodate took flight at 7:55 am and 11:30 am, respectively, transporting over 400 passengers embarking on winter getaways to these sought-after Japanese destinations. Mr. Jevey Zhang, Chairman of Hong Kong Airlines, along with the management team, was present at the celebratory event held at Yonago Kitaro Airport.

Addressing the ceremony, Mr. Jevey Zhang remarked, “In 2016, when we initiated our inaugural scheduled flights to Yonago, we proudly became the first and sole local carrier providing direct flights from Hong Kong to Yonago that year, introducing global travelers to the captivating natural landscapes and profound cultural ambiance of Tottori Prefecture. After several years, we are exceedingly pleased to reintroduce this beloved destination into our expanding Japan route network.”

In conjunction with the seasonal flight service, Yonago Kitaro Airport will facilitate a dedicated shuttle bus service between the airport and Yonago City on flight operation days, ensuring passengers experience a seamless and convenient transfer.

Simultaneously, Hong Kong Airlines marked the debut of its inaugural seasonal service to Hakodate, solidifying its position as the sole local airline to offer direct flights connecting the two cities.

Mr. Zhang expressed, “We are also excited to launch the Hakodate route today, with the inaugural flight achieving an impressive passenger occupancy rate of over 90%, underscoring its popularity among travelers eager to explore Hokkaido. Together with our thrice-weekly regular flights to Sapporo, we believe both routes will harmoniously meet the increasing demand for winter travel.”

On another note, Hong Kong Airlines’ flights to Seoul have consistently enjoyed popularity among travelers, maintaining robust passenger loads. As a testament to the airline’s commitment to enhance connectivity, the frequency of flights to Seoul has been elevated from four times weekly to a daily service starting December 17, facilitated by the A330-300 wide-body aircraft. The Seoul service now boasts over 300 spacious seats, enhancing the travel experience for a larger number of passengers.

Amidst the gradual recovery of flight capacity, Hong Kong Airlines actively explores new destinations. Throughout the year, the airline successfully launched new routes to Beijing Daxing, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Phuket, and Hakodate. Additionally, it resumed flights to several popular destinations, including Sanya, Chongqing, Bali, Kumamoto, and Yonago. With the resumption of seasonal flights to the Maldives in January, the airline’s network will encompass a total of 25 destinations.
