The UIM E1 World Championship, a groundbreaking all-electric boat race contest recognized by the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM), promises to revolutionize the racing world with its focus on sustainable, electric-powered watercraft. As the exclusive East Asian city to inaugurate this championship, Hong Kong is set to host up to ten international teams on November 9 and 10, 2024, following six international races in Europe and the Middle East. The E1 Hong Kong Grand Prix is expected to draw a large international audience, eager to witness this electrifying electric boat race against the stunning backdrop of Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong’s famous skyline.

Mr. Kevin Yeung, Hong Kong SAR Government’s Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, expressed his excitement for E1’s arrival in Hong Kong, emphasizing the city’s role in launching the first three seasons of the championship and reinforcing Hong Kong’s status as a global hub for major events and tourism.

The inaugural season of the UIM E1 World Championship in 2024 will feature seven exciting races worldwide, including in cities like Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), Venice (Italy), Puerto Banús (Spain), Geneva (Switzerland), Monaco, and Rotterdam (the Netherlands), culminating in the grand finale in Hong Kong. The championship will showcase up to 10 teams and 20 pilots, both male and female, competing in electric E1 raceboats across iconic cityscapes and challenging circuits.
