Hotel Café Royal is excited to share the news of the opening of its newest dining establishment, Barbounia. Nestled in the heart of London’s Regent Street within the luxury hotel, Barbounia offers an authentic blend of Italian and Mediterranean-inspired cuisine. Overlooking the impressive 700-pound Murano glass chandelier and reception crafted by Piero Lissoni, the restaurant provides a unique and elegant dining experience.

Conceived by Chef Alessandro Verdenelli, the menu artfully combines traditional cooking techniques with contemporary flair, emphasizing top-tier ingredients sourced locally and seasonally whenever possible. Barbounia, translating to red mullet in Greek, presents an extensive all-day dining menu encompassing classic Mediterranean flavors, spanning from fresh seafood and meat dishes to handcrafted pasta and delectable pizzettas. Designed for various occasions, be it a casual dinner with loved ones or a formal business lunch, guests can choose from a diverse selection of small plates, sharing platters, main dishes, salads, sides, and desserts.

The appetizers and small plates boast a Raw Counter featuring the Royal Platter for two, oysters, beef carpaccio, caviar, red tuna tartare with avocado and rocket, grilled octopus, and black truffle arancini with Parmesan cream. Main courses showcase artisanal pasta creations like Lobster Tortelli with cherry tomatoes, bisque, and micro parsley, as well as Veal Milanese and fresh fish options such as Red Mullet with lemon and Provençal sauce.

Putting a unique spin on the traditional ‘Aperitivo Hour,’ Barbounia introduces its ‘House Selection,’ a shared platter of oysters, red prawns, langoustines with olives, Parmigiano, and truffle arancini, served alongside a glass of sparkling wine or wine for £40 per person. This special offering is available from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Additionally, children under 12 years old are invited to dine on a complimentary basis, in line with the hotel’s family-friendly ethos.

Barbounia adds another exceptional option to the diverse culinary offerings already present in the hotel, including the two-Michelin starred restaurant Alex Dilling at Hotel Cafe Royal, Cakes & Bubbles by Albert Adrià, the renowned Afternoon Tea at The Grill Room, and the Green Bar with its recently introduced menu centered around absinthe.
