Helsinki’s historic Hotel Kämp is set to undergo a transformative expansion, adding 3,100 square meters to its premises.

Central to this project is the integration of the historic Helander House on North Esplanade, which is being reimagined as an extension of the iconic hotel.

Alongside this, the property will unveil a luxurious 1,200-square-meter wellness oasis, further solidifying its reputation as a premier destination for both international visitors and locals.

Expansion Highlights and New Offerings

Set for completion in May 2025, the Helander House transformation will introduce 22 brand-new rooms and suites, seamlessly integrated into Hotel Kämp’s timeless elegance. Speaking about the expansion, Erika Ehrnrooth, COO Finland for Strawberry Hotels, stated:
“The opportunity to incorporate parts of Helander House into Hotel Kämp was irresistible. This expansion, combined with the hotel’s refurbishment, opens new avenues for hosting premium events and meetings in Helsinki.”

The Helander House project includes significant upgrades to its facade and infrastructure, including the installation of modern, energy-efficient heating and ventilation systems.

Former office spaces will be converted into stylish guest accommodations, reflecting Hotel Kämp’s legacy of sophistication.

Revolutionizing Wellness with a New Spa Experience

Hotel Kämp’s wellness offerings will reach new heights with the introduction of a state-of-the-art spa. This expansive facility will include:

• Three pools, saunas, and experience showers
• Seven treatment rooms for personalized therapies
• A yoga studio and fully equipped gym
• Relaxation areas, a wellness bar, and lounge

Hotel owner Petter Stordalen promised an unparalleled experience, stating:
“Our new spa is a sanctuary for fitness and wellbeing enthusiasts, offering a unique blend of relaxation and revitalization for both guests and members.”

Collaborative Vision for Excellence

The project is being realized in partnership with property owner Ilmarinen, whose Leasing Manager, Ville Laurila, emphasized the strategic integration:
“Merging the Helander House with Hotel Kämp not only expands the hotel’s capacity but also allows us to create operational synergies within the block.”

A New Chapter for a Historic Landmark

Hotel Kämp’s refurbishment, set to conclude in spring 2026, will be carried out in phases, ensuring the hotel remains operational throughout.

The renovation will see:

• All 179 rooms and suites refurbished and 31 additional rooms added
• The main entrance relocated to its original spot on Esplanade
• An enhanced lobby, bar, and restaurant area
