Aside from cultural events and family-friendly activities, short-term hotel stays are also in demand this Eid Al Fitr.

Buoyant bookings are seen across hotels in Qatar which are offering promotions for the holiday from QR444 to QR1,800 for two persons.

Occupancy rate in these hotels are 65 to 70 percent, according to Qatar Tourism.

According to the latest data of Qatar Tourism, there are 38,502 hotel and apartment room keys across the country; 17,926 keys belong to 5-star hotels; 7,368, 4-star hotels; 2,731, 3-star hotels; 475, 1 and 2-star hotels; 9,159, deluxe apartments, and 843, standard apartments.

Kim Castro, Cluster Director of Marketing Communications of both Dusit Doha Hotel and Dusit Hotel & Suites – Doha, told a news agency that in the next days, there will be a tremendous demand from staycationers.

The 5-star hotel, which has two locations in the country, anticipates more GCC visitors this year compared to 2022, when locals and residents made up the majority of its guests.

“We are expecting more staycation guests from the GCC, particularly from Saudi Arabia. The World Cup and recent changes that have made it simpler to get to Qatar by land or air, notably with the revamped Hayya platform, are among the factors that have contributed to the country’s strong occupancy rates this year and last year. The World Cup has really put the country on the global tourism map and because of that people want to come and visit Qatar,” said Castro.

Families and groups of friends who wish to have a staycation have a large selection of hotels to choose from throughout the country, including Dusit Hotels.

According to Castro, there is a current promotion offering a Junior Suite for QR899 (good for two people) with a breakfast and dinner buffet, as well as 2 and 3-bed suites, which are ideal for families and wherein Saudi families often book for QR1,699 (good for three people).

A news agency visited some hotels on the first day of Eid, yesterday, and noticed that a huge number of people from United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia are checking-in for the holidays.

Maine from the Philippines will be staying in Hilton Salwa Beach Resort & Villas for the next three days together with her family and friends. “We started our Eid staycation yesterday, and it will last for the next two days. It has been a yearly tradition for us to stay in a hotel and just relax. I noticed that our staycation can be compared to that of 2020, before the pandemic hit the world.”

“In 2022, we travelled to Dubai to have an Eid vacation, but now we are staying in Qatar and will try these new hotels which were opened in time for the World Cup last year,” said David from Canada.
